"What’s the frequency, Kenneth?" is something that was supposedly said by one of the people who was supposedly beating up Dan Rather on a sidewalk in NYC.
That's according to Mr. Rather.
The assault happened soon after Mr. Rather was caught out when he went national with a fake news story about how George W. Bush supposedly tried to use his connections to shirk duty in the Texas Air National Guard.
The assailants were never (to the best of my knowledge) caught.
A FReeper played a significant role in unmasking Mr. Rather. His FR name, IIRC, is Buckhead.
Oh, the question “What’s the frequency Kenneth?” gained such currency that 90’s rock band R.E.M. turned it into a song, which actually got a little airplay, at least where I live.
