“I can’t watch the new NFL Kickoff. Like many others, I just turn my head,” he wrote on Truth Social.
“The ridiculous new Kickoff Rule takes away the prestige and power of the game,” he continued.
He concluded by saying he hoped college football didn’t follow suit.
The league instituted a new format for the 2024 season in which the kicker stays on his team’s 35-yard line but the rest of the coverage unit lines up on the opposing team’s 40-yard line. They cannot move until the ball hits the ground or a player in the designated landing zone — inside the 20-yard line — or the end zone.

I feel the same way, but...I am no longer invested in the NFL the way I was for so many decades. I had to become a casual watcher due to their politics.
Just when you think you might watch pro football again they do something to remind you why you stopped!
No kidding. But then I didn’t watch the NFL before they sissied up the rules.
BTW which left wing cities will be playing against each other this year?
So, onside kicks are eliminated?
Yesterday’s two games were decided by a total of seven points. I enjoyed them.
I wouldn’t worry about it Mr. President......when the nfl goes 100% pay per view most won’t be watching anyway.
Not to mention I strongly suspect a certain amount of players are compromised to one degree or another.
Watching highly paid skilled athletes drop passes I could more than likely catch in 9th grade junior high football is just too much to swallow.
No, but they must be declared so the traditional setup is restored.
I heard that after the return man catches the ball the kicking team has to count off 3 Mississippis before they start to go after him.
I’ve thought of walking into my local watering carrying a large book - like a dictionary - and saying it contained the NFL kickoff and overtime rules, along with explanations.
From AI:
“onside kicks are allowed in the NFL, but with specific rules: they must be declared to officials beforehand, can only be attempted by a trailing team, and for the 2025 season and beyond, they can be declared at any point in the game, not just the fourth quarter, with a slight alignment change to give the kicking team a better chance.”
I used to be an avid LA Rams fan until they moved to St. Louis. Then I stopped following the NFL altogether due to the National Anthem protests and the "Black National Anthem."
the onside kick is still allowed but no secret, must be announced and lined up like the old way...
Doesn’t he have more important things to discuss — and do?
I could not possibly care even a little bit less than I do about professional sports at all and most other types.

How long before this devolves into flag football
I stopped watching when they starting "taking a knee" and switched to NASCAR and golf instead.
