A San Jose police officer was shot and taken to the hospital Wednesday following a pursuit involving a carjacking suspect, according to authorities.
A suspect is dead, and a San Jose police sergeant was taken to the hospital Wednesday following a multi-county pursuit, according to a police source with direct knowledge.
CHP said a green Corvette was carjacked in San Jose at around 2:37 p.m. Officers later found the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.
The suspect arrived in Hollister, where the city's police department said he abandoned the vehicle on Westside Boulevard, armed with a firearm. Police report the suspect engaged with officers with the firearm before running away and taking another vehicle.
After that, authorities said the suspect drove back to Santa Clara County.
Authorities report the suspect was involved in a shootout with the San Jose Police Department in the downtown area, resulting in the suspect’s death. Police added a sergeant was shot and taken to the hospital.
The police department informed the sergeant is in stable but critical condition.
CHP adds both directions of Highway 87 at Julian Street closed due to the police activity. An estimated time for reopening is unknown.

What the hell is a California cop doing trying to deal with crime anyhow?
I'd suspect that someone in an inner circle owned the car.
Even if they only incidentally prevented recidivism, it’s still a good thing for society, isn’t it?
Where were Ponch and Jon?
The Perp? Oh him? He's burning in hell right now.
California phone call order:
1) Call the criminal’s next of kin. Provide information about income replacement and housing and health care, if needed. Inform about free legal assistance. Express condolences.
2) Assign dedicated caseworker for the criminal’s family.
2) Lunch
3) Starbucks
4) Call the police officer’s family - notify he’s in the hospital.
For a green Corvette? Was he heading to the nearest place to get a new paint job?
Wow you think all cops in California just drink coffee and eat donuts, pretty F’kn insulting, and if that was supposed to be a joke you’re about as funny as that moron Joe Mackey who writes on Gutfeld.
Well, it’s not as bad in Cali as in other democrat shitholes...Chicago, New York, Minneapolis.
