Sen. John Cornyn stood in the shadow of the U.S.-Mexico border wall for a campaign event, but the Texas Republican didn’t offer the kind of diatribe about illegal immigration that stokes his party’s core and fueled Donald Trump’s rise to the White House.
Instead, Cornyn, in his courtly Houston drawl, politely thanked Trump for billions in federal dollars to reimburse Texans for work on the wall, praising “the president of the United States, to whom I am very grateful.”
Cornyn’s characteristic calm and measured comments betrayed the urgency of the moment for the four-term senator. He’s facing the political fight of his long career against two Republicans who claim closer ties to Trump and his MAGA movement and tend more toward fiery rhetoric. Now, Cornyn could become the first Republican Texas senator to lose renomination in a race that may reflect what GOP primary voters are looking for in their elected officials — and what it takes to survive in Trump’s Republican Party.
Some say the 73-year-old former Texas Supreme Court justice represents a bygone era in the GOP. Still, Cornyn, supporters and the Senate’s Republican leadership are fighting aggressively for an edge in the March 3 primary. They have spent tens of millions of dollars, much of it against his opponents, Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt — both self-styled Trump Republicans.
“We’ve got enough performance artists here in Washington,” Cornyn told The Associated Press, “people who think serving as a representative in the world’s most distinguished representative body — that what qualifies them — is they are loud, they are active on social media and they get a lot of attention.”

And they don’t author anti-gun legislation, and they have a liberty score higher than 54%, and... He is a very good example of a republican who thinks the seat belongs to him. I could conceivably leave my senate vote blank in November if we can’t get rid of this guy, but the democrats candidate always shows themselves to be batsh*t crazy, so I have to hold my nose.
No one I know will vote for him.
He’s been running commercials constantly cause he knows he’s in trouble.

We have three candidates, Cornyn, Hunt and Paxton.
The media has a special hatred toward Paxton.

You have ag Paxton who is about the only elected official who works, doing his job, works with Trump, likes Trump, even goes on Bannon’s show exploring tough questions, primarying Cornyn, and Cornyn ressurects a gossip line so people cltch pearls and want to split the vote
They can’t imagine
They won’t imagine that Cornyn is using the Lindsey graham trick of flooding the primary, walking into the nomination with a plurality of like 39%. He’s running foreign policy with like 30% support from a little state
And people want him primaries
But this is what they do with a primary. Vote for a nobody that the guy they want out could have hired to run to split the vote and people will vote for him, getting the snake putt back in
The Mai voter has to stop or Cornyn will be in another 25 years, allowing the blue cities of Texas to seep out and turn Texas blue, damning us all to democrats presidents forever
No one knows any more than that about Wesley hunt.
Hopefully that sorry RINO is on his way out.
That little bass turd, Tararico is trying to get illegal alien anchor babies the vote. He’s building his case by claiming that illegal alien infants are “more patriotic” than American born American infants. Friggin Marxist pig. But hey! He’s kickin’ Crockette’s ignorant butt in the polls. A silver lining.
He needs to be flushed
The Black unknown that has no chance in a statewide race. Last gasp effort to split the conservative vote and keep Cornyn in office. Because, of course, all the Blacks will leave the Democrats and support West. (Which is probably true in the first primary round, since Texas has open primaries.) Then West vs Cornyn in the runoff, and West doesn't have a chance there. Goal is 6 more years for the Rino.
And as pointed out above, it’s Wesley, not West for the Black candidate. Even the Bushites can’t get the name of their darkhorse candidate right.
