“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” a new series set in the “Star Trek” universe, is getting review-bombed online after debuting its first two episodes Thursday night, with some anti-”woke” critics targeting the show, including Trump advisor Stephen Miller.
The first two episodes of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” premiered Thursday night on Paramount+, while the first episode is also streaming for free on YouTube.
The teen-focused show stars Holly Hunter as the chancellor of the titular “Starfleet Academy,” set centuries in the future but roughly around the time of the later seasons of “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Despite decent critic reviews and a “certified fresh” score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score is much lower—a 35%—while it also has just a 4.9 user score out of a possible 10 on IMDB.
The show has garnered backlash from some “Star Trek” fans who found it a lackluster addition to the franchise, while other critics have accused the show of being “woke.”
Stephen Miller, an advisor to President Donald Trump, reposted a clip of Hunter and other women in “Starfleet Academy” and called it “tragic,” suggesting the 94-year-old William Shatner should come back and be given “total creative control” to “save the franchise.”

Test.
yeah it looks pretty bad. The leaders of Starfleet are all dykey womenz, the cadets are people of color who are overweight. If I were a tranny from India and i weighed about 300 pounds I’d think it was great and reflected my experience. Otherwise——- nope!
I saw a short clip where the Doctor was singing with somebody. Totally non-Trek.
Star Trek has been woke from day one. Why is this a surprise?
If anyone remembers the era it started in, the diversity of the characters, interactions with other people from other galaxies, the first interracial kiss, wokeness has always been the agenda. While we don’t think much of the first series now, it was a big deal then.
yes those shows are excellent!!!
Yes but we used to like it.
I just watched it.
I really don’t know what to think...
Looks interesting.
Stephen Colbert is in it. That alone is reason enough not to watch it.
It was more of a “do unto others as you would have them do to you” philosophy back then- they didn’t promote perversion. Even Sulu minded his manners in the show, and Christ wasn’t mocked. Just treating each other as family regardless of color is a Christian concept, not a woke one, and there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing Christian about objecting to an interracial kiss, nothing Christian about forbidding interracial marriage. It was also not a nihilistic show. It was really quite hopeful.
Woke is quite a different matter, and is why the franchise is now hurting. Wokeness is not compatible with Christianity but hostile to it, it just promotes nihilism and Marxism. It thrives on tearing down.
DEI fantasy; no White men.
If a little is OK then a lot is better? We have a Klingon that likes bird watching. An overweight fitness instructor who is a female Jem’Hadar, which are not supposed to even exist. I’m certain, since this is a free episode, that we haven’t seen the transgender and openly gay cadets, which will of course be portrayed as the most sane and rational, and the happiest, people you’ve ever seen.
Hence Starfleet is (mostly) a military organization, as sanity dictates one must be as prepared as possible for situations requiring snap judgements based on wise decision-making. This includes tactics beyond self-defense if necessary for survival.
Yes, this is also a reprimand to the government.
Was that real? I thought it was joke. The glasses were a joke. Who wears glasses in the future. I really thought that was AI and was hilarious, wait, they are serious?
Yep, Where no he/she/they/them has sashayed before.
Yeah, TOS had crazy woke stuff like Captain Kirk reciting the preamble to the US Constitution.
