I want to be sure I know just what you are saying here. You could say that some of us live on gov’t. handouts if we live on S.S. I suppose. Stocked grocery stores on every corner? Well, the ones we have (not enough to make up a real competitive marketplace) but probably enough to get what groceries we need. Is this what you meant? The ones I know mainly live on S.S. because they were laid off at 65, or simply lacked the ability to do the job any longer. I fully retired at 75 because I was just running out of physical strength.

While I don’t disagree with you on the problem of declining genes, which also has stricken other countries in the West, it seems to me that there are other factors at work here, too.
Political factors, such as DEI for unqualified groups, or too much money for people who won’t work - or are not bright enough for anything but the most basic kinds of work, of whom far fewer are needed among the workforce nowadays than in former times - are another big problem, I would say…😞
