A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration on Friday from cutting off more than $10 billion in social services and child care funding to five Democrat-led states over fraud concerns.
New York District Judge Arun Subramanian, an appointee of former President Joe Biden, issued the 14-day temporary restraining order in response to a lawsuit filed by state attorneys general in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and New York – the states targeted by the Trump admin’s funding freeze.
“This relief is preliminary in nature and is designed to protect the status quo while plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction is briefed and decided,” Subramanian wrote in a two-page order.
Subramanian found that the Democrat-led states showed “good cause” in arguing that the funding freeze would have “immediate and devastating impacts.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James, who led the four other states suing the Trump administration, celebrated the legal victory.
“This decision is a critical victory for families whose lives have been upended by this administration’s cruelty,” James said in a statement.
“From childcare to shelter services for survivors of domestic violence, these funds provide resources that hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers depend on,” the Democratic AG continued. “This illegal funding freeze should have never happened, and I will keep fighting to uphold the law and protect funding that our communities need.”

The DOJ very rarely has lost these activist judges rulings in the Higher Courts
USDA suspends nearly $130 million in federal funds to Minnesota over fraud concerns
I think Trump should continue full speed ahead while these cases are ‘adjudicated’. The idea that a judge can prevent the President of the United States from exercising his duties is risible.
I would expect some vocal pushback from Trump, just to stir things up. Undoubtedly, there is much going on that we don’t know about, but I’m used to Trump raising hell.

I’m getting sick to the teeth with these activist judges.
I voted for President Trump to clean this country up and get us back to the Constitution. Not for some Marxist, Obama a$$-kissing judge to try and thwart everything President Trump is doing.
Unfortunately there isn’t a peaceful way to save the country, people don’t see that yet.
Sadly, TermLimits4All, that is becoming more and more obvious.
And, if it is to be, then let’s get to it. I don’t want to leave this fight to my kids and grandkids.
This has to stop
Step 1 investigate judges financials
Step 2 investigate judges internet activities
Cut it off anyway. To hell with these demonic judges.
Is “federal judge” one of those commie mercenaries?
I thought district judges were already told by the SCOTUS that they can’t issue injunctions that extend beyond their own district.
I thought district judges were already told by the SCOTUS that they can’t issue injunctions that extend beyond their own district.
BINGO
Getting to be a trend here. Whatever happened to judges named Jones and Smith?
Is the judge gonna reimburse the gov if those care centers are found to be fraudulent?
“immediate and devastating impacts.” That sounds like punishment. What this cancer of a judge is saying there can be no punishment to the crimes that have been exposed.
Once again ... Judges rule while Congre$$ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Correct—but SCOTUS has no army to enforce their decisions.
Leftists make up the rules as they go along.
“The issue is not the issue. The revolution is the issue.”
The leftists told us we had a social contract with rule of law.
Now they broke it—and call us “right wing extremists” for noticing.
