Today was the premiere of CBS's revamped Evening News. The reboot is being presented as a return to a less partisan news format. Just curious what some of you think about it. FWIW, I did find the broadcast to be generally fair in its viewpoint, if a little frenetic in its presentation.

Earlier rumor was Fox News’ Bret Baier was being courted to take a prominent role at CBS.
I’ve never liked him. He seems pompous and self centered. I remember his trying to look above it all by asking snarky questions of MAGA people to make them look bad.
Seems to close his eyes with his eyebrows up as if to show “I am so terribly, terribly clever and better than you.”
I hear you about Baier but have you seen the broadcast anchors? They are not so good...
Lol! I can’t really disagree with you about Bret Baier. He is pretty pompous
Not yet. I’m doing a lot better in keeping away from the news shows. Started with avoiding catching a glimpse of that demonic Jessica Tarlov as I tried to get the remote to get away from her.
Then I figured I know more from FR than the TV blabbers know as they repeat the same 4 or 5 stories and have each person nod about what they say. Maybe I’m improving on my news addiction recovery. And I’m curing myself of Glenn Beck as his latest mental flip out is to idolize AI. 🥜🥜
What I think about it? I think that CBS news has already earned my full and forever boycott of any damn thing they ever report. There’s no reforming after what they’ve already been responsible for. I can live without them and their opinion “journalism” for good.
I’m sticking to that. There’s plenty of places to get information these days, CBS will NEVER be one of them.
Hear! Hear!!
"Return"???
That implies they were honest at some time in the past.
I refuse to watch so much as a second of network ‘news’.
To some extent at least, if it isn’t posted on FR, I don’t know about it.
CBS News deserves a look and a chance at conservative viewers. CBS is now part of the media properties owned and managed by David Ellison, the son of Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison. The Ellisons are quiet Trump allies, with Larry Ellison recently buying a home near Mar-a-Largo. Their new head of CBS news is cleaning house and trying to establish a foundation of journalistic integrity and fairness. The Ellisons are also said to want to poach the Fox News audience.
I would be willing to give CBS another try. Can’t hurt. It would be nice to see some balance in journalism make a comeback. Lord knows the 4th estate sorely needs some to regain any trust with a large segment of the citizenry. The press is SUPPOSED to hold the government accountable or the left will continue it’s brainwashing.
An HONEST reporting network will TROUNCE the others, as Fox News had done in the past, before it became just another Big News mouthpiece, so perhaps the owners of CBS News feel like making a bit of money?
I haven’t had a functioning TV in 10 years. My blood pressure shows the positive benefits of that decision every day.

Baier is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 when considered in a vacuum. When compared to the guy he replaced, Chris Wallace, he is an 11.
This in a way is Revenge 33 years too late. CBS lost its affiliates to Fox in 1994. New owners are doing what Jesse Helms wanted in 1985.
Howling at TV network news bias and misinformation was a regular feature of family life when I was growing up. CBS was the worst.
CBS can easily dethrone NBC by simply dropping the bias. NBC is the poster child for slanted, yellow journalism. The Beat the Press gal is the worst example. CBS had a 60 minutes audience but Anderson Cooper wrecked it.
He didn’t replace Wallace. He replaced Brit Hume on his retirement.
Was it not CBS that aired an edited piece of audio in the Zimmerman case? Where they cut out the part where the dispatcher asked Zimmerman for a description of the person he was observing?
Not sure what to expect from the “new” CBS. It was discouraging to see how they reported the scandal in Minnesota. Supposedly, they did an investigation but saw no evidence of fraud. Yeah, right.
