A nasty new influenza variant — dubbed the “super flu” — is sweeping across the US, fueling a sharp rise in illnesses. So far this season, the CDC has logged 4.6 million flu cases, 49,000 hospitalizations and 1,900 deaths.

In mainstream medicine, NAC’s uses are already well established. The FDA has approved it as the antidote for acetaminophen poisoning, helping prevent or reduce liver damage when given after an overdose.

In an Italian study, researchers gave participants either a placebo or 600 milligrams of NAC twice daily for six months. By the end of the trial, 79% of people taking the placebo developed flu symptoms — compared to just 25% in the NAC group. Those taking the supplement also had milder symptoms and bounced back faster from the illness.

Never heard of it, but might be worth a try. Been having a heck of a winter so far with congestion.
“As Americans scramble for relief, public attention has turned to an over-the-counter supplement called N-acetylcysteine, or NAC. Supporters claim it can ease flu symptoms and even shorten how long you’re sick.”
OK. It’s a bamde. What is NAC? Give it a name.

What is a bamde?
Amazon has it now.
Amazon sells it now. Also Walmart along with many other retailers.
I know, but for at least a year, they ddn’t.
You want to take NAC with Glycine.
The two of them together make Glutathione which is the body’s primary antioxident.
Glutathione starts to decline at age 45 and goes into steep decline after age 60.
So if you’re above 60 you want to take the GlyNAC combination in any case because your body becomes increasingly inflamed with age.
How Much of each? I read numbers that are all over the map.
I”m 72 going on 73 next month. I’m currently taking about 10 grams daily of glycine, and only about 2-3 grams of NAC but I may push the NAC up to 5 grams daily.
I would also recommend 10 grams of creatine daily if you’re over 65 or so. for muscle and brain health.
Just a note. Everyone is different, but the two times I cycled in NAC I encountered adverse effects. Specifically, I encountered a substantial bought of fatigue. Stopped the cycle. Restarted a few weeks later and the exact same heavy fatigue issues. Like I said, everyone’s different. This was my experience.
I can attest to the fact that NAC has helped my symptoms when they occur. When the symptoms are mild and just starting, it cures me completely after one or two doses.
I did a clinical trial to study NAC with PTSD victims and alcohol use. It worked for me.
This is why elimination diets are powerful. People are often eating things that have side effects, and they don't even realize it.
I’ve been laid up since Christmas eve. Apparently no one showed up to Christmas service at church either because so many people got sick.
NAC rocks. I take it daily, wife ignores it. Guess who is sick? :-)
We take NAC daily with glycine. I have to take it before noon, or else I have the wildest dreams in my sleep. My dreams are already vivid, and when I take NAC in the afternoon, the dreams turn really bizarre. It doesn’t have that same effect on my husband, though. He’s lucky if he even remembers his dreams twice a year.
