New York’s order honoring Muslim American Heritage Month draws fierce criticism for spotlighting former Twin Towers site.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is under fire for an order to light 16 state landmarks, including One World Trade Center, in green Friday night to celebrate Muslim American Heritage Month.
The first-ever such order was issued to honor “the values, faith and traditions of our Muslim American communities,” according to a press release from the governor’s office. But critics note it strikes a tone-deaf note, considering that One World Trade Center stands at the site of the Twin Towers destroyed by Islamic extremists on September 11, 2001.
Councilwoman Vicki Paladino, R-Queens, noted the irony:

A “symbolic” gesture? If anything its symbolic of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s total disconnect from the sentiments of the vast majority of USA citizens. Its also symbolic of her hatred for America as it dishonors the deaths of 2,977 innocent people on the morning of 9/11/2001.
I never knew of a Muslim American when I grew up. How about foreign invaders go home month.
