A Space Force officer whose family’s home was destroyed in an apparent arson attack in Washington, DC has spoken out, sharing photos of the damage to their home as well as his car. Their DC home burned while he, his wife, and infant daughter were spending the Christmas holiday in Florida.
Speaking with the Daily Caller, Major Jason “Red” Mills said that he awoke on December 28 to a phone call from DC police telling him his house had been set on fire. He immediately flew back home upon learning about the fire to assess the damage. Mills said that the fire department told him it appeared an individual had started two fires, one in the kitchen and the other in the basement. A police report obtained by the Daily Caller said that a man has been taken into custody after being caught with some items in Mills’ home.
Mills said, "I would say there is a general anti-military sentiment in certain parts of D.C. nowadays." He added, "If they were intending to target from the get-go. I do go to and from work, from the subway and I live in a part of D.C. where [the military doesn’t typically live.] So I’m the only person even remotely nearby that would ever be in uniform so they may have seen something going from my house, just in uniform every day."
He and his wife, Kaylee, who is also a Space Force officer, went through the destroyed property in hazmat suits in order to salvage items from the home. They were able to save some irreplaceable items, such as the hospital bracelet from the day Mills’ daughter was born, as well as some framed baby photos. Mills found his cat deceased in the rubble.
Mills said that his car had been broken into as well, with the inside mirrors being torn off, paper thrown around, black ink spread everywhere, and a sticker representing the "Air Force Research Laboratory" that had a large "X" written on it. Photos Mills shared with the Daily Caller showed the phrases "**** Trump" and "**** you space man" written on the outside.
In the wake of the attack, a GoFundMe was set up by Mills' family. He said the response has been "heartwarming," adding, "I was blown away by students from the school I taught at sending like 500 bucks each." As of Friday evening, the fundraiser has brought in over $100,000.
"Me and the family are super, super thankful and grateful for all the support we’ve been shown so far. It’s way above and beyond anything we expected… it’s been frankly overwhelming and in the best possible way."
No one is publishing the exact address of their home, only that it was near the “congressional cemetery in SE DC.”
It’s always been a bad area. I can’t imagine there are too many white folks in the neighborhood, much less active military and officers.
The civil war is heating up...
The GOP will form a circular firing squad to get to the bottom of this attack...
That means shutting down their perpetual circle jerk for a while...

I think that Trump made a big mistake when forming the "Space Force" by not devising new rank names.
Just as the U.S. Navy has its own naming system - with a "Captain" (equivalent to Colonel), a "Commander" (equivalent to Lieutenant Colonel), etc. - the Space Force should also have distinct rank names:
Space Cadets, Space Rangers (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class), and Space Wardens (for the enlisted ranks) - and Sub-Commanders, Centurions, etc. for the officers.
The military could have also exercised a little more imagination in designing their uniforms...

And every team should include a blonde knock-out as well as a "spunky" 12-year-old boy.

Does no one carry insurance anymore?
“Does no one carry insurance anymore?”
Responsible folks do ... the trick is getting the insurance company to honor their side of the policy in toto without invoking sometimes petty things that are used to disallow a claim.
Having lived in Arlington for 3 years....there are 2 ways of viewing ‘SE DC’:
1. Once you exit Bolling...anything east of the gate is a area to avoid. You drive to the interstate...avoiding Anacostia and Congress Heights.
2. The Nationals Park/Naval Yard (across the river, northward)...are SE, but huge amount of development over 25 years. Lot of GS employees live there. Fairly safe to walk around this area...with the local subway state fairly safe to use.
On the whole of no-go and safe-zones....I’d say from my experience....there are probably 6 to 8 areas of DC you should avoid (day or night). With 3 areas that you’d be better off to avoid (RFK Stadium is one of those).
That must be near the Potomac Ave. Metro station. Not a good area.
“Me and the family are super, super thankful...”
Sad that Space Force doesn’t require that their troops be competent in English. “Me and the family...” Arrrgh! WHY are people massacring the language this way? Even newscasters and pols are doing this.
Insurance does not cover acts of civil disobedience or war.
Not understanding that statement completely. The wartime excuse I might understand. Why would insurance not pay off on a criminal act of civil disobedience? Maybe just because they would lose a lot of money in certain areas of certain cities? Would seem to me in this instance they sold that officer insurance under false pretenses. What the insurance company is saying that the house would have to have burned down in normal circumstances. Whatever that is.
Between you and I, it’s driving me nuts.
Sounds like his neighborhood is in dire need of chimp cages.
If you have a homeowner’s policy, just read it.
My homeowner’s policy does not cover a reptilian alien invasion from outer space.
I need to consult with my insurance agent about that.
Lol.
How about a Pleiadian invasion? Did they nail that one down as well? Hopefully they used more general wording. I really dislike half-measures.
Oh goodness, I remember Captain Video, Dr Pauli, his nemesis, and the deranged robot “I, TOBOR.”
I watched them every day on WDTV. the Dumont Television Network here in Pittsburgh in the early 50’s.
The reptilians are already here and have been for centuries. Ancient Aliens dontcha know?
