......Cracker Barrel has quietly stopped serving black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day, a Southern dish that, according to legend, brings good fortune in the new year.....
Our New Year’s Day custom is different—Pork and Sauerkraut! But we do it at home.
Cracker Barrel should continue to honor Southern New Year’s Day customs! Phooey!

Here's a trick. Tell that PC idiot of a CEO that instead of serving black-eyed peas on New Years day, the company can serve Black-eyed peas on New Years Day. Sorta of like the idiot news media does.

Here it is, pork sausage meatballs and sauerkraut for good luck at midnight. This is a tradition from my wife's family of Slovak immigrants in SE Ohio.
Real 1/2 Serb here. Yes to pork and sauerkraut. Pork seared then removed. Rinsed and drained kraut is browned in the grease, add sliced onions and lots of fresh ground pepper. Keep stirring occasionally until the kraut is pretty dry, browned and yummy. Add the pork on to and cover the pan for a bit. Makes me hungry!
