The Somali fraud stories are emerging across the country. From its origin in Minnesota, new claims have emerged in Ohio, Maine, Massachusetts, and Washington.
Yesterday, in Minnesota, state legislators and daycare providers held a press conference to speak out after the Trump administration announced that Health and Human Services (HHS) would be suspending the program until an investigation into the fraud claims was completed.
The press conference began with an opening statement from a childcare center director named Amanda Schillinger, who claims that many in her community are afraid to come forward because they’re being targeted and that she really doesn’t want to be there.
“So lets be honest about how we got here. “Our President decided he doesn’t like the Somali community and he wants to destroy them,” she said. “Speaker Demuth and the GOP caucus sent a YouTuber out to create the narrative they want out there. Not the truth.”
She continued by saying that “Minnesota does investigate suspected fraud in childcare and hold people accountable. And they will continue to do so because fraud is never acceptable. But cutting off childcare funding to everyone in the state is not the answer and its not acceptable.”
She claims that 75 percent of the children in “our program” qualify through the state for childcare funding.
Next to speak was a woman that said she is a mother, medical student, and benefactor of childcare funding spoke at the event. She began her speech, seemingly reading from her phone, by acknowledging that she’s “not much of a good speaker” but would try her best.
Nervously reading from her cell phone, she stated that 20,000 kids will be unable to attend daycare as they and their parents depend on this funding.
But when the script prompted her to say, “I understand: fraud is bad,” she covered her mouth in shock, seemingly concerned for what she had just said, and backed out of her speech.
Shortly after, a daycare owner stepped up to speak and had another reaction to the word “fraud.” This one was off script and led to some brutal honesty.
Maria Snyder, a director at a childcare center in St. Paul that was opened by her mother in 1998, began by saying she was “proud” of the work she’s done at her daycare. Snyder mentioned that many families at her center who rely on the daycare funding are “one paycheck away from becoming homeless.”
After saying that she couldn’t help but feel like this was an effort to cut funding, she pointed out signs in the crowd that read “Stop fraud!”
“And I do see some signs over here that say, “Stop Fraud!” and I agree. Stop it. There are waitlists for these programs that are years long. There is fraud…” Snyder abruptly stopped and covered her mouth with a paper she was holding.
Then she makes a heartfelt statement: “The fraud that is occurring is not at the hands of families. We need to be looking at who’s in power, who’s making decisions, who’s guarding the purse strings of our tax dollars – my tax dollars too – and make sure that children have places to go that are safe for them to learn, [so that] parents can go to work, and providers can keep their doors open.”
“That’s what I have to say. I went a little off script.”
Watch:
While most conservatives would agree that government welfare subsidies are grossly out of control, certain groups, such as children, should be helped, especially before sending billions to foreign countries and foreign wars.
However, everyone should be in agreement that rampant fraud should be rooted out and prosecuted. But those prosecutions always seem to stop at the low-level “foot soldiers” who are perpetrating the fraud. It never seems to rise to the next level: the administrators, bureaucrats, and elected officials who allow the fraud to continue, even after they’ve been made aware of it.
Snyder’s “off script” remarks align with the same concerns Scott Jennings expressed on CNN on Thursday evening. Jennings told host Abby Phillips that some people have been held accountable, but until someone in power, someone elected and in charge of administering this “goes to jail…it’s honestly never going to stop.”
This press conference comes following an alleged break in at a daycare the day before. The Gateway Pundit reported that the daycare allegedly had been broken into and had “important documentation” stolen, including “enrollment of the children and also employee documentation that was gone,” according to a “spokesperson” for the daycare owner.
The “thieves” also allegedly took checkbook papers from the checkbooks.
In a bizarre explanation, CBS News Minnesota claimed that the vandals entered the building through “cinderblock.”
in Washington State the AG just announced that any journalists looking into daycare fraud would be charged with harassment and hate crimes.
We gots the Mogadishu Blues !
Before thieving Somalis looted daycare tax dollars, attention focused on Somali looting w/ Feeding Our Future scandal, a federal program to feed needy children seized on by Somali criminals to enrich themselves. Somalis submitted fraudulent claims for feeding enormous numbers of non-existent kids. Random name generators were popular applications in the Somali community. Read on to get an inkling of the criminal Somali mindset.
Four More Defendants Plead Guilty
to $250 Million Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
Friday, February 7, 2025
For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney’s Office
District of Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS – Four additional defendants have pleaded guilty for their roles in the $250 million fraud scheme that exploited a federally funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick.
First, according to court documents, at times between October 2020 and January 2022, Abduljabar Hussein, 44, of Shakopee, Minnesota, knowingly and willfully conspired with others to participate in a fraudulent scheme to obtain and misappropriate millions in federal child nutrition funds.
According to court documents, in October 2020, Abduljabar Hussein’s wife, Mekfira Hussein, enrolled her non-profit, Shamsia Hopes, in the Federal Child Nutrition Program under the sponsorship of Feeding Our Future, at the direction of one of its employees, Abdikerm Eidleh. Mekfira Hussein submitted her application to Aimee Bock, Feeding Our Future’s executive director. In December 2020 and also at the direction of Abdikerm Eidleh, Abduljabar Hussein registered his company, Oromia Feeds LLC, with the State of Minnesota. Oromia Feeds LLC also participated in the Federal Child Nutrition Program as a vendor for food to be served by Shamsia Hopes sites run by his wife.
Together, the Husseins submitted fraudulent claims that sought reimbursement for far more meals and food than they actually prepared. Hussein and his wife submitted fraudulently inflated invoices for reimbursement—including inflated meal counts and false attendance rosters. As part of this scheme, Hussein and his wife paid at least $140,000 in kickbacks to Eidleh and least $12,000 in kickbacks to Aimee Bock, in exchange for Feeding Our Future’s sponsorship of Shamsia Hopes. In some instances, these kickback payments were disguised as “consulting fees,” when, in fact, neither Eidleh nor Aimee Bock provided any service to justify these payments.
According to his plea agreement entered today, the Husseins ultimately obtained up to $8.8 million in federal child nutrition program funds some of which they used to pay for personal expenditures unrelated to feeding children. For instance, the defendant used $173,438 of the proceeds to pay off the mortgage on his home in Shakopee, Minnesota, and also purchased a 2021 Porsche for $93,250, as well as a 2022 GMC truck for $61,722. As part of his sentence, Hussein was ordered to forfeit those vehicles as well as a 2021 Tesla, and the fraud money he applied toward his home mortgage.
Next, according to court documents, Zamzam Jama, 50, and Mustafa Jama, 48, of Rochester, Minnesota, and Asha Jama, 42, of Lakeville, Minnesota, each pled guilty to laundering fraudulent proceeds that were paid by Feeding Our Future through the Federal Child Nutrition Program to Brava Restaurant. In October 2020, Brava Restaurant, which was located in a retail strip mall in Rochester, Minnesota, enrolled as a distribution site in the Federal Child Nutrition Program under the sponsorship of Feeding Our Future.
The Jamas and their conspirators coordinated the establishment of shell companies through which they received and disbursed funds from the federal child nutrition program to make expenditures that had nothing to do with feeding children. Specifically, on January 7, 2021, Salim Said, a co-owner of Safari Restaurant in Minneapolis, paid to register six different shell companies with the state of Minnesota for the Jamas and others.
In 2021, Zamzam Jama, Mustafa Jama, and Asha Jama deposited at least $491,245, $1,429,730, and $449,933, in misappropriated Federal Child Nutrition Program funds into their respective shell entities’ bank accounts. The Jamas then used those funds for various personal expenditures that had nothing to do with feeding children.
Zamzam Jama spent Federal Child Nutrition Program funds on a home in Rosemount, Minnesota, and to purchase a 2021 Toyota RAV4 vehicle. With her guilty plea, Zamzam Jama has forfeited that vehicle, her interest in the Rosemount property, as well as $114,482 from her bank accounts in 2022 by federal investigators.
Mustafa Jama used Federal Child Nutrition Program funds to buy a home in Columbus, Ohio. He also spent $394,000 in program money toward a home in Lakeville, Minnesota, and to purchase Mediterranean coastal property in Alanya, Turkey. With his guilty plea, Mustafa Jama has forfeited any interest in the Ohio and Lakeville properties, as well as $239,500 from his bank accounts in 2022 by federal investigators.
Asha Jama spent Federal Child Nutrition Program funds toward a home in Lakeville, Minnesota, and another in Rochester, Minnesota. With her guilty plea, Zamzam Jama has forfeited her interest on those two properties any interest in that vehicle, the Rosemount property, as well as $149,880 seized from her bank accounts in 2022 by federal investigators.
In separate proceedings in U.S. District Court before Judge Nancy E. Brasel, Abduljabar Hussein pleaded guilty on February 5, 2024, to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud; Zamzam Jama pleaded guilty on February 5, 2025, to one count of money laundering; Mustafa Jama pleaded guilty on February 6, 2025, to one count of money laundering; and Asha Jama pleaded guilty on February 7, 2025, to one count of money laundering. Sentencing hearings for all four defendants will be scheduled at a later date.
The case is the result of an investigation by the FBI, IRS – Criminal Investigations, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew S. Ebert, Joseph H. Thompson, Harry M. Jacobs, and Daniel W. Bobier are prosecuting the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Baune is handling the seizure and forfeiture of assets.

“It never seems to rise to the administrators, bureaucrats, and elected officials who allow the fraud to continue”
Why is the SWAMP so rarely mentioned? Swamp dweller Deloitte has more WFA Waste Fraud Abuse than the Somalis. Deloitte IES Integrated Eligibility System is in 25 states, mostly the big states no MN. IES handles Food Stamps/EBT, WIC, TANF, Sec8, Medicaid and other welfare programs.
If we point out the Deloitte is full of H1b types will that attract attention like the Somali attract attention? But the big WFA here is not Hl1b. It is HHS money.
Amanda Schillinger said that she had much better arguments yesterday, but MAGA thieves broke into her office last night and stole them.
OF course, the grift is NATIONWIDE, its not just Minnesota..its how commies keep their voter base, import millions of filth into our country, let them create fake “Child care centers” and they allow the fraud to happen for votes
We need to make it so that state “crimes” can be federally pardoned.
The Democraps played this “state crime” crap on Trump, and on Tina Peters.
I’m sick of ungrateful foreigners getting welfare
while Americans are out-of-work and/or struggle
on a daily basis
It’s ridiculous to spend federal funds supporting
ungrateful foreigners while Americans have to work
to pay for childcare week after week
Oversimplified but there it is. /rant
YES - these frauds will absolutely continue to be found across the nation
The Federal Government funds these “child care” programs through “Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) grants under the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (42 U.S.C. § 9857 et seq.)
in 2025, Fed.gov pays about $9 billion per year, while individual States themselves are matching with about $3.5 billion, making $12.5 billion available for fraud throughout the nation.
Moreover, these are “black grants.” Fed.gov gives money to States to fund State programs as they see fit. While there technically is “Federal oversight,” we know from experience that given the practice of Obama and Biden Administrations, there probably is almost NO oversight at all.
They system is designed for theft by Democrats and their globalist/marxist agenda.
The “no oversight” problem is partially the fault of Congress (both parties).
They have the authority to demand periodic audits of the uses of funds—including micromanaging the timing of the audits, the methodology to be used, and specific data to be collected.
At the end of the day Congress just does not care—no matter how much fraud there is.
They are just “mailing it in”.
Another thing which is never mentioned is how Somalis even qualify for government funded daycare when so many of them don’t work full time because they are getting Section 8 housing, EBT cards and a cornucopia of other government funded benefits.
Brasel is a Trump judge - NOT a Biden stooge or a Benedict Obama stooge...
Wasn’t “Civil Forfeiture” thoroughly reviled here at FR?
First a tiny multibillion dollar fraud scheme in Minnesota. Then on to more billions conned from taxpayers in Ohio, Maine, Massachusetts, and Washington. And more on the way.
As Moe Howard would advise them-—
Spread out.

The federal government has NO business funding Daycare.
Millions of parents work and don’t get subsidies for Daycare. And by age 5 there are public schools.
And you can’t convince me the parents are working.
Photo....
After the billions of fraud con are under the investigators’ microscope. He’s gonna hold onto that last taxpayer silver dollar until the eagle grins.
Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out.
by Jimmy Cox, 1923. Bessie Smith and Eric Clapton notable covers.
Once I lived the life of a millionaire.
Spending my money; I didn’t care.
I took all my friends out for a good time,
Buyin’ high price liquor, champagne and wine.
When I began to fall so low, I didn’t have a friend,
and no place to go.
If I ever get hold of a dollar again,
Gonna hang on to it till that eagle grins.

Nobody knows you,
When you’re down and out.
In you pocket, not one penny.
And your friends, you don’t have any.
One would strongly suspect that Timmy is up to his eyeballs in this.
One would also like to see the claim by the alleged killer of two MN politicians that Timmy told him to do it fully investigated.
Idiot claims the GOP is creative a narrative and lying.
Typical Dem projection.
And when was the last time a false narrative got 80 plus felony arrest? Well, at least since Jan 6.
