A Somali immigrant in Minneapolis named Mahad Mohamud, who used social media to advocate for Sharia law in the United States, was deported to Mogadishu, Somalia, in November 2025.
According to reports, after his deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, Mohamud expressed fear for his life, stating he was being hunted down, threatened by Sharia jihadists in Somalia.
The situation was widely noted for its irony, as he had previously promoted the system he now claims makes his life in Somalia dangerous.
