The United States has declared it is ready to take part in postwar security guarantees for Ukraine, including the possible deployment of American troops once a peace deal with Russia is reached, Donald Tusk, Poland’s prime minister, has said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not confirm Tusk’s comments, telling journalists on Tuesday: “These are the troops of the United States, and only the U.S. makes such decisions.”

Sounds like wishful thinking or an attempt to influence the White House.

But if were proven to be true, 2028 will be a year the Democrats will win.

Everyone is talking about NATO troops in Ukraine - except Putin.

If Trump deploys US troops as “peacekeepers” adjacent to Russia, it will be a monumental disaster. It really is in the best interests of the American people to disengage from Europe. If the EU really wants to fight Russia , let them do it alone. Europe has devolved into something that is becoming increasingly weird and alien to America.

Donald Tusk, Poland’s prime minister, is a bit fickle. He was President of the European Council, September 2014 - 2109. In 31 January 2017, Tusk wrote an open letter to 27 EU heads of state or government on the future of the EU before the Malta summit. In this letter, he stated the Trump administration presented a threat to the EU on a par with a newly assertive China, an aggressive Russia and “wars, terror and anarchy in the Middle East and Africa”. - wiki

Negotiating can involve putting things on the table the opponent doesn't like in exchange for them removing something you can't accept. If the US has broached this possibility it's hopefully a "Well, Vlad, you're leaving us no choice".

Of course, bluffs can backfire.

.5 L Vodka (40%)
1-2 pcs Chili peppers (fresh, red)
1 tsp Black peppercorns
2 pcs Cloves
1 pcs Bay leaves
1 tsp Honey (optional)

I’ll pass on the horilka, but the potato mushroom casserole has promise:

Take a look at the picture. Don’t mash all the potatoes!

The whole purpose of stopping the war was so the two countries could live next to each other independently without aggression. By putting US troops, and maybe other nations’ bodies on the ground, we all are admitting that these two self professed civilized countries are nothing more than 211 BC marauders like Hannibal in the Second Punic War. You would have thought that man has come further than that in almost 2000+ years. Let’em slaughter each other.

I thought we were going to bomb Iran again? Are we going to do both? Venezuela too?

I sure hope not. I smell something with all of this.

Europe has devolved into something that is becoming increasingly weird and alien to America.

There's almost no difference between European elite culture and American elite culture: both embrace authoritarian suppression of dissent, sexual perversion, child mutilation, mass immigration and replacement of white natives with Third World barbarians.

The "Biden" regime instituted a thorough system of social media based suppression including debanking of opponents, false prosecutions, and blacklisting to suppress political opponents.

We dodged a bullet, and many of the Eastern European governments like Poland are still sufficiently democratic to push back against the lunacy of Brussels and the transnational elites. Even the British, Germans and French have had a enough but are struggling to throw off the stifling control of authoritarian center-left political parties. They deserve our support.

And an America alone will still have large security concerns in this hemisphere and in the Pacific, but would be left in the same position we were in in 1940 with a second-rank Navy and a third-rate army, waiting to be sucker punched again. Achieving genuine economic and security autarky would require almost a WWII-style recapitalization of US heavy industry and an almost revolutionary suppression of our current corrupt business and political class, for which there is almost zero political chance.

Keeping China and Russia busy far away from us is far better than waiting to be attacked once again with inadequate preparation.

I suspect you’re right about wishful thinking and possibly media influence attempts. US troops on the ground in Ukraine would be a very bad move and President Trump would most certainly lose the MAGA movement. Plus, we just have no business doing that. He knows that and I don’t think he or any of his staff have indicated that they’re going in that direction.

I’m still waiting for someone to explain the logic here:

1. Russia has, since 2008, been treating NATO expansion (even while it was a NATO partner!) as an absolute no-no.

2. Apparently, NATO presence even in North Macedonia, which is nowhere near Russia, was provoking Putin.

3. In December 2021, Russia issued a demand to US-NATO to effectively remove all NATO membership benefits and protection from the Baltic members, and even deny NATO permission to do exercises inside its own territory, without prior permission from Moscow... and, if NATO didn’t agree to all this, they’d invade Ukraine.

4. Even now, Russia will not roll back on (3), and furthermore they’ve effectively said many times that ANY British, American, French or German boots on the ground in Ukraine would bring the RF even more directly into a war with NATO.

5. But we’re supposed to believe that despite its entire objection to NATO expansion being based on the US-led nature of EU-NATO, Russia will agree to American boots on the ground in Ukraine - for ANY reason - simply because Putin and Trump are a bit more pally.

Make #5 make sense in light of #1 to #4.

They mostly homebrew their horilka, but you could use bottled vodka to mitigate the ickiness.

That casserole does look good! I may try it. Good catch on not not mashing all the taters. It would not only look better but taste better, too. Thanks for the recipe!

There's nothing stopping Tusk from sending Polish troops right now. Stop looking for Americans to die for your war, Tusk. Send your own. Stop barking from behind the gate and go for it, tough guy.
