Daycare scandal deepens as unearthed video shows parents 'pretending to drop kids off before they all leave just MINUTES later'

The ongoing daycare fraud scandal in Minnesota dates back a decade as an unearthed 2015 video appeared to show parents pretending to drop their children off at an alleged phony center.

The bombshell footage came to light as FBI Director Kash Patel revealed the bureau is cracking down on potential abuse after one daycare was accused of stealing $4 million in taxpayer's money.

The video from Hennepin County - Minnesota's largest county by population - was recorded in March 2015, then uncovered in 2018 and has now resurfaced. It shows parents appearing to bring their kids in, purportedly to spend the day, before they all immediately leave.

When the case was prosecuted by the county, it was discovered that the scam allowed providers to claim reimbursement funds despite never providing any actual care, Fox News reported.

The center would even claim reimbursement for days when parents didn't bother to put on a show and fake bringing their kids over.

A local Fox station in Minnesota even showed footage of an alleged kickback payment given to someone who took part.

At least four different centers took part in the scheme which stole $1 million out of the government's coffers.

'They were billing too much, they went up to high. It's hard to imagine they were serving that many people,' said then-Hennepin County attorney Mike Freeman.

'Frankly if you're going to cheat, cheat little, because if you cheat big you're going to get caught.'

Four people were arrested as part of the scheme, with Abdirizak Ahmed Gayre and Ibrahim Awgab Osman pleading guilty to felony theft by swindle pursuant to a plea agreement, Fox9 reported.

As part of the agreement, the state reportedly dismissed other charges against them and agreed not to pursue further charges against other defendants.

Our Democrat run school district in Illinois would pull much the same thing in the 1980s and I doubt it was alone. Every time there was a big snow when all the schools in neighboring Missouri would close immediately for safety reasons and for convenience of working parents, our district would not close immediately, because it would lose federal and state money per student not attending the minimum daily hours.
So, they would hold school as usual no matter how bad it was, gambling that the busses could make it in. Mostly it paid off and the busses, or at least most of them, made it in without getting stuck or sliding off the roads, insuring the schools got the money.
But it didnโ€™t always work well and sometimes they would screw around and get half kids in town stuck at school and not enough busses able to get through in the afternoon. Sometimes the busses made it but many teachers did not. A couple times they got kids there and didnโ€™t even bother sending them to classrooms but made everyone stand around, looking out windows at the busses which they had just got off of while the staff watched the clock until it hit the minimum hours attended mark, then had the kids get back on the busses to get home. One time they kept the schools open after a tornado had hit the day before and made everyone stand around before sending them home after the magic moment to get the money, even though storms kept coming through knocking debris down on the streets and blocking traffic. At the time we didnโ€™t care as it gave us a chance to gawk at all the damage, but what a waste of time and resources.

Dem politicians chose really stupid accomplices for their stealing this time.

Sounds like the prosecutors did the absolute minimum, letting most off.

The recent video of Somali daycare fraud that has gone viral and has broken into mainstream media and onto millions of home TV screens demonstrates that Somali daycare fraudsters have learned many lessons between 2015 and 2025.

Nick's video showed long corridors with evenly spaced offices. Every third office had a professionally painted daycare sign next to its door and some offices had a lonely young lady to answer the phone--most were empty.

Some thuggish characters appered and ordered Nick and his mentor to leave--eventually the polic were called and obligingly escorted Nick and friend out of the building.

The whole scam seemed like a well-oiled operation and the IV needle inseted into the flow of tax dollars for local clan distribution had been nicely fine-tuned.

And the video that showed Somali non-emergency transporation cars that are being driven around with no passengers in them were being driven daily empty to build up mileage on the odometers for fraudulent reimbursement claims. They needed the mileage to be verifiable from the odometer readings so they can claim the mileage benefits from driving people to doctor appointments and rehab facilities.

If you look at how the scam works, some of the Somalis day care centers are pure fraud with only non existent phantom children are โ€œenrolledโ€

Others use the Democrats classic 50-50 welfare fraud gift where they start fraudulent day care centers, enroll the children of local parents and split the day care money with the parents. The parents use the money for living expenses and keep their children at home while the owners of the day care centers pay the bills for the sham day care centers and then pocket their cut the money for providing non existent services This kind of fraud is happening all across the country on a daily basis and a large percentage of the approx 75 billion dollars per year in Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF)and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)funding spent on day care is outright fraud and the rest is just wasted taxpayer money

This does not count the Covid money

The insanity and irony of the Covid day care spending is that Democrats supported K-12 teachers union members who fought tooth and nail for covid lock downs to keep schools closed while the same Democrats made sure covid money was blown like drunken sailors on shore leave in Subic to open up day care centers for Pre K daycare centers to send kids during the lock downs - despite the fact that the country was locked down and parents were at home

This is fraud AND most kids would be better off at home than in daycare.

Yeah, that's the biggest take away from all the reporting - there is not person or day care center I would trust my kids to in the entire group .

What are the qualifications of these people and how they vetted to make sure we are paying for safe daycare provided by qualified and competent providers.

IMHO, we are darn lucky that no kids were exposed to risks associated with being in the custody of these criminals.

These entitlement fraud schemes have been going on for a long time and the magnitude of the dollars lost to fraud has been exploding under the Biden Administrion to astronomical levels as people race to cash in on Minnesota's entitlement fraud gold rush

This fraud is so huge that it has macroscopic impact on the Minnesota economy that is several times the annual revenues of the Minnesota's mining plus extraction of oil and gas industry (one of Minnesota's major industries ) and is on the level of the states entire utility and power generation industry.

It's carzy, but part of the reason they are getting away with the fraud is because the fraud has become such a major industry in Minnnesota that it has a huge and vocal constituency in the state that has tons of untraceable cash to launder to politicians and government employees

Itโ€™s nice to see a public servant who offers such helpful advice to grifters just beginning their scams at the publicโ€™s expense. I wonder what his is? ๐Ÿซ

I could not disagree more. This was in-your-face daylight burglary, stealing a hot stove and coming back for the smoke. The Somalis’ message to America, “Pay up, suckas!”
