Alameda Man Accused Of Killing Wild Turkey Charged With Felony: Report (BB Gun)

An Alameda man accused of killing a wild turkey this month is facing felony animal cruelty charges, prosecutors said.

The 38-year-old was arrested on Dec. 17 after the illegal hunting was reported to police and animal control by a witness, the East Bay Times reported.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is now seeking justice for the wild bird, which are seen around some Bay Area neighborhoods, though they are not native to California.

Police told the East Bay Times that the man, who hasn't been publicly named, shot the turkey with a 177 caliber BB gun near the 400 block of Pensacola Road — about three-and-a-half miles from where the man lives.

The bird was taken to a veterinarian for a full necropsy before the case was brought to the district attorney's office.

Wild anything is very lean. Needs some chicken fat to taste better

As "tough" as dog meat?

Perfectly legal in Virginia, as long it's turkey season

Air guns (SMALLER than .35 caliber)

Deer: No
Bear: No
Elk: No
Fall Turkey: Yes
Spring Turkey: Yes

Wild Turkey is drier than domestic turkey so you can't cook it the same way. I like to use a coffee rub on the leg quarters and filet'd breasts and either grill it or cook it in an air fryer using a poultry button thermometer.
Done right it's excellent eating.

Here in Maine, we are overrun with wild turkeys.

Last Spring, I saw a hen in the backyard. Running around
her were 15 chicks, each the size of a tennis ball.

Anybody STUPID enough to try kill an animal with a bb gun needs to be in the criminal justice system anyway, for the next STUPID thing that they do.

That was in the 50s and early 60s.

There was a closed season for many years until flocks grew to an appropriate size. Now we have many birds.

There have been closed seasons since 1859.

And there have been open seasons every year since whenever.

Nowhere was it illegal to have a turkey feather.

“Turkey hunters know that by the time you see a turkey he is usually looking you in the eye...”

I have shot lots of turkeys that never saw me.

Many heard me calling but they never saw me.

Too bad we can’t send him the Central Park, NY, after getting him to develop a taste for pigeons.

“Wild turkey is very good, much better than what you get from the store.”

Both are excellent but should not be compared. Both are Turkey but completely different meat by taste and texture. I like them both properly prepared.

LOL

Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris would advise you to sip it and savor it at first, build up some momentum and then it’s down the hatch, guzzling it with streams of overflow from the sides of your mouth, stopping to gasp short bursts of air. Toss the empty bottle against the wall and let the servants sweep up the shards.

California cares about wild turkeys enough to go after this guy whole hog, yet don’t care about the huge numbers of wild birds killed by their beloved windmills.
