Sea level doesn’t rise at the same rate everywhere...

...we mapped where Antarctica’s ice melt would have the biggest impact

....The melting ice raises average global sea level, alters ocean currents and affects temperatures in places far from the poles.

But melting ice sheets don’t affect sea level and temperatures in the same way everywhere.

In a November 2025 study, our team of scientists investigated how ice melting in Antarctica affects global climate and sea level.

.....

The extent to which the Antarctic ice sheet melts will depend on how much the Earth warms. And that depends on future greenhouse gas emissions from sources including vehicles, power plants and industries.

Studies suggest that much of the Antarctic ice sheet could survive if countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement goal to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit) compared to before the industrial era. However, if emissions continue rising and the Changes in Antarctica The extent to which the Antarctic ice sheet melts will depend on how much the Earth warms. And that depends on future greenhouse gas emissions from sources including vehicles, power plants and industries.

Studies suggest that much of the Antarctic ice sheet could survive if countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions....

Our research shows that high emissions pose risks not just to the stability of the West Antarctic ice sheet, which is already contributing to sea-level rise, but also for the much larger and more stable East Antarctic ice sheet.

It also shows how different regions of the world will experience different levels of sea-level rise as Antarctica melts.

.....

Instead, many places experience higher regional sea-level rise than the global average, while places close to the ice sheet can even see sea levels drop. The main reason has to do with gravity.

But is it more full or less empty?

It’s those racist sperm whales splashing about with their toxic masculinity and white privilege. They actually even call them “sperm whales”. I mean, do they constantly ejaculate everwhere? That would explain why they’re splashing about, and why exactly the water’s so murky.

No doubt, that’s what p!ssed off Captain Ahab.

Ocean dredging I think would have to be massive to have any affect on sea level rise, but then, to start with, I do not think the issue is as dire as the alarmists say it is.

Whenever subsidence has been seen to be the real factor at some specific point of a coastal area, that specific point of an area was in fact shown to have sunk lower than it’s previous height and that subsidence accounted for the ocean to appear to be higher - further up on a section that was in fact sunken lower than it was before.

Subsidence in coastal areas is a common occurrence and by subsidence we do not mean erosion by the forces of the waves and rain.

Natural coastal subsidence is driven by several long-term geological processes:

We are referring to these processes:

Sediment Compaction: In river deltas and coastal areas, newly deposited sediments accumulate and the weight of overlying layers naturally compresses the material beneath them. This causes the land surface to gradually lower over time.

Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA): This is the ongoing response of the Earth’s crust and mantle to the retreat of the massive ice sheets from the last ice age, around 15,000 years ago. Areas that were once heavily glaciated are now uplifting, while peripheral areas (such as the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts) are naturally subsiding as the Earth’s crust flexes.

Tectonic Activity: The slow movement and collision of the Earth’s tectonic plates can cause vertical land motion (VLM). Coasts along active margins (like the U.S. West Coast) experience more frequent tectonic shifts, which can sometimes lead to localized, rapid subsidence or uplift, though overall they tend to be more geologically active and less prone to chronic subsidence than passive margins.

Dissolution of Underground Rocks: In “karst” terrains where soluble rocks like limestone, gypsum, or salt exist beneath the surface, groundwater can dissolve them over time, forming underground caves and caverns. If the cavern roof becomes unstable, it can collapse, leading to the sudden formation of a sinkhole at the surface.

I saw the title and assumed they were saying it doesn’t rise near Obama’s residence in Hawaii.

Sea level is far more dependent on plate tectonics than ice melt.

You put the ice cubes in the glass first. Then you add water until the ice floats and fill to the brim with water. What happens when the ice melts?

The ocean is never allowed to rise above Plymouth Rock.

It says so in the Constitution.

Lol.

"Sea level doesn’t rise at the same rate everywhere..."

I'd kind of expect centrifugal to make any rise highest at the equator.

There are no points any where there is observable notable sea level rise.

THAT IS A FACT!

Because if there were every weather/climate wacko, lipservice liberTARD would be there using GPS to mark the spot taking selfies...Greta the little doom troll would be there having kittens and screaming 'how did we dare!'

““Sea level doesn’t rise at the same rate everywhere”

ROTFLOL! of course the oceans rise at the same rate everywhere ... what doesn’t change at the same rate everywhere is the rate of coastal subsidence, which is a function of the degree of over-pumping of local ground water and deep water aquifers, analogous to letting air out of a balloon or squashing a sponge cake sitting in a puddle of water ...

True, and also differences in such things as salinity and dissolved solids.

That said, Archimedes principle applies, differences in gravity, tides, and ionic composition taken into account.

I know many fine but mis-focused folks just like your sis.

If there were any part of the globe that would reveal sea level rise, it might be equatorial islets like the Maldives (which are still nicely above water.).

If sea levels did rise, build dykes. Major job market. It’s been done for centuries in Europe.

Wait, Wait don’t we have a lot of dikes here (rosy went to Ireland) but we have a lot more. Can’t we just stack them up and drive some rebar though them to divert the water...

Oh dikes and dykes......

Well I suppose we could just give it a try, who knows it could work, after all it’s just a little rebar and....
