President Donald Trump is throwing cold water on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's new 20-point peace plan ahead of their Sunday meeting at Mar-a-Lago.
"He doesn't have anything until I approve it," Trump told Politico.
"We'll see what he's got."
Trump believes he will have a productive meeting with Zelenskyy and also hopes to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
"I think it's going to go good with him," Trump said to Politico.
"I think it's going to go good with Putin."
The president said he will meet with Putin "as much I want."
On Friday, Russia accused Zelenskyy and his EU backers of seeking to "torpedo" a U.S.-brokered plan to stop the fighting.
Russia signaled its opposition to the plan ahead of the Florida talks.
The Kremlin said foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov held telephone talks with U.S. officials, and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov criticized Zelenskyy's stance.
"Our ability to make the final push and reach an agreement will depend on our own work and the political will of the other party, especially in a context where Kyiv and its sponsors — notably within the European Union, who are not in favor of an agreement — have stepped up efforts to torpedo it," Ryabkov said on Russian TV.
He said the proposal drawn up with Zelenskyy's input "differs radically" from points initially drawn up by U.S. and Russian officials in contacts this month.
"Without an adequate resolution of the problems at the origin of this crisis, it will be quite simply impossible to reach a definitive accord," Ryabkov added.

If the assests were in a Ukraine controlled bank I could understand the taking of the money...otherwise it should just be frozen.
Don’t forget Trumps statement about Ukraine, “ You don’t hold any cards”....nothing has changed except for the lines on the battlefield.

Reminds me of another "why" question - why did the US get involved in a war between belligerents that were formerly part of the same country, in an armpit of the world most Americans can't find on a map, with no US vital interests at stake, no clear path to victory, and no exit strategy?

Trump asserted that Ukraine “should have never started it” and suggested Kyiv bore responsibility for the war.
Fact: The full-scale invasion was launched by Russia in February 2022; Ukraine did not start the war.
He called President Zelenskyy a dictator who refuses to have elections and said his popularity was extremely low (e.g., “4% approval”).
Fact: Zelenskyy was democratically elected in 2019 and elections were postponed due to martial law; his approval remained significantly higher according to polls.
Trump claimed the U.S. had given Ukraine $350 billion in aid and that the U.S. had given more than Europe by a wide margin.
Fact: Independent estimates put total U.S. aid significantly lower (around ~$180–185 billion) and European support has been greater overall.
He suggested Zelenskyy “admitted that half of the money the U.S. sent is missing.”
Fact: This misrepresents what Zelenskyy actually said about aid figures; there’s no evidence that half the aid is unaccounted for.
Trump said Ukraine “could have made a deal” that would have avoided Russian aggression.
Fact: There’s no basis for this, and Ukraine’s ability to negotiate territorial concessions before an invasion does not align with how Russia’s strategy unfolded.
Worse, Donald Trump has betrayed an ally and lied to the American people while doing it. Yes, Ukraine was an ally of the United States before Trump intermeddled and sold Ukraine out.
Contrary to Trump's preposterous assertion in the oval office while stage-managed humiliation of President Zelinski that Zelinski" had no cards to play," Ukraine has fought on valiantly and has fought Russia to a standstill.
Our betrayal of our commitments to Ukraine, symbolized by the disgraceful theater in the Oval Office, will be recognized for what it is by history, shameful.
Another example where Trump’s mouth outruns his brain!
Ukraine has NEVER been an Ally or Friend of America, just of Hunter Biden, and Deep Swamp Corruption.
