President Donald Trump is throwing cold water on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's new 20-point peace plan ahead of their Sunday meeting at Mar-a-Lago.
"He doesn't have anything until I approve it," Trump told Politico.
"We'll see what he's got."
Trump believes he will have a productive meeting with Zelenskyy and also hopes to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon.
"I think it's going to go good with him," Trump said to Politico.
"I think it's going to go good with Putin."
The president said he will meet with Putin "as much I want."
On Friday, Russia accused Zelenskyy and his EU backers of seeking to "torpedo" a U.S.-brokered plan to stop the fighting.
Russia signaled its opposition to the plan ahead of the Florida talks.
The Kremlin said foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov held telephone talks with U.S. officials, and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov criticized Zelenskyy's stance.
"Our ability to make the final push and reach an agreement will depend on our own work and the political will of the other party, especially in a context where Kyiv and its sponsors — notably within the European Union, who are not in favor of an agreement — have stepped up efforts to torpedo it," Ryabkov said on Russian TV.
He said the proposal drawn up with Zelenskyy's input "differs radically" from points initially drawn up by U.S. and Russian officials in contacts this month.
"Without an adequate resolution of the problems at the origin of this crisis, it will be quite simply impossible to reach a definitive accord," Ryabkov added.

Reality may become clear in 2026.
Just recently the US announced an $11B military aid package to Taiwan. China responded by sanctioning all US defense companies like Lockheed, Raytheon, Boeing, etc.
That means no neodymium magnets, and that means no electric motors.
The EU says they will ante up about $45B in 2026, with which to buy weapons.
From whom? The US companies can’t get magnets. No magnets, no drone motors. Oh and BTW, China already announced magnet sanctions on any military buys by the EU.
This stuff is off the radar. It dare not get on the radar. US response to almost anything is to announce $XX Billion. Money doesn’t buy what is not available and therefore doesn’t exist.
Zelensky may not have a home to return to:
American backed Ukrainian Anti Corruption agency NABU carried out raids at the offices of politicans from Zelenskys ruling “Servant of the People” Party.
Zelensky’s close friends Kisel and Koravchenko (Yuzik) were amongst the targets. The latter has also been Zelensky’s close friend and associate since their time working together at the “Kvartal 95 studio”
The US backed raids were initially resisted by the Ukrainiam State Guard Service, who restricted access (photo) to the committees of the Ukrainiam Dictatorships assembly the Verkhovna Rada.
This is all taking place on the eve of a critical meeting between Zelensky and President Trump in Florida. Its obvious that the results of the searches demonstrate Zelenskys vulnerability and remind him that the US can easily decide his fate.

The Ukrainian leader’s actual last name is Зеленський.
You see the problem here. There is no single established way to transliterate that name into the Latin alphabet. As for the guy in Ukraine, he uses Zelenskyy for his passport and government documents. In the media, you will also see Zelensky, Zelenskyi, and Zelenskiy. I say let him spell his name however he wants.

I'm sorry to see the desire for the US Govt. to step in and stop these European squabbles.
If they want to continue killing each other over petty border disputes, let them have at it and leave us out of it.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime-minister Carney pledges another $2.5B in economic aid to Ukraine during Zelenskyy’s stopover in Canada. It’s all about the money.
Peace in Ukraine would mean an end to the money train. Undermining the peace talks, keeps the train ride rolling.

More recently, following intensified Ukrainian drone attacks and a lack of Russian progress, some commentators and a September 2025 Trump social media post have suggested that Russia now appears to be the one without “the cards” (described as a “paper tiger”), as the war has dragged on for years with little success for Moscow.

The goals hasn’t been speed of land capture, Ukraine supporters made that up to “feel better”. The goal has been the destruction of Ukraine’s soldiers and weapons. Russia advances a little, pulls back and invites the enemy in, then destroys it with its 7 to 1 artillery firing advantage.
The last body exchange was about 40 Russian soldiers exchanged for about 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Russia is upping its tempo now that Ukraine can’t cover the entire line anymore. Russia uses 3-4 guys on motorcycles to probe areas and then sends troops to the lest defended areas taking the easiest land available, avoiding the heavily defended areas. However, even with that Russia is taking land much faster now. When Ukraine’s troop concentrate in cities, Russia surrounds them, pounds with artillery and waits them out. Encircled troops are sitting ducks and accomplishing nothing. Three of Ukraine’s best outfits, including the Nazi AZOV unit have been decimated this way.
About 10,500 Ukrainian troops are encircled now. They are out of the fight and won’t be back.

Ukraine can’t mount a counteroffensive, doesn’t have the ability. Land taking has been a one-way street and Russia is driving at its own speed to minimize casualties.
