From Christian to Majority-Muslim: Lebanon’s Cautionary Tale for Europe

Christians were a majority until the 1980s; today they are roughly one-third, living under growing pressure from a Muslim majority.

Christians in Lebanon have declined from a demographic majority to a minority.

Lebanon was majority-Christian starting from the first century (when Christianity was introduced by figures such as St. Peter and St. Paul) until the mid-20th century. Mount Lebanon, which remains the Christian heartland of the country, is frequently mentioned in the Bible.

Lebanon was conquered by the Arab Islamic Rashidun Caliphate in 636 AD following the defeat of the Christian Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire at the Battle of Yarmouk. The Ottoman Empire later occupied Mount Lebanon from its conquest in 1516 until the end of World War I in 1918. Lebanon gained independence from French rule in 1943.

Maronites are the largest Christian denomination in Lebanon, historically centered in Mount Lebanon. They are known for their unique Eastern Catholic Church (which remains in communion with Rome) and their usage of the Syriac language in liturgy, although they primarily speak Lebanese Arabic today. Maronites played a key role in founding modern Lebanon. Today, they maintain distinct cultural and religious traditions, tracing their roots to St. Maron in the fourth century.

The Greek Orthodox community is the second largest Christian group. Other historical Christian communities include Catholic (Chaldean, Greek, Latin, Armenian, and Syriac), Oriental Orthodox (Armenian Apostolic, Syriac, and Coptic), and the Assyrian Church of the East.

Until the 1980s, Christians still constituted a demographic majority in the country. Today, the once-thriving Christian community has plummeted to roughly one-third.

The case of Lebanon represents a warning

Trump seems to get the warning. Europe does not.

Not just Christians will be a minority, but whites as well, and that includes the US.

The ruling elites of Uk, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany etcetera have sold out to the invasion. A few countries in mostly Eastern Europe appear to be non/ suicidal. US is very far gone but perhaps PDJT can repatriate or reverse the problem. Maybe. He will have to work very very hard at it.

Christianity has already lost around 66%-70% of its territory to Islam. Often it starts by taking in “refugees”. This lesson seems to be lost on target populations.

It seems like the global elite want to consolidate global power with Islam and then they will only need to control Islam.

What’s the point in even having a separate country of Lebanon now that the locals are just as Muslim as Syria?

Wasn’t Lebanon simply the French carve out of Arab Christians from their Middle East post Ottoman mandate?

Not enough babies…

It’s no accident. Birth control was pushed by WASPs in this country. Like dope dealers who get a taste of the stuff on their fingers then get addicted, the first group to undergo “population limitation” was the WASPs themselves. (In 1987, dumpster divers at Planned Parenthood Southwest Texas at Houston discovered that, rather than fulfilling Planned Parenthood’s purpose of keeping down numbers of Mexicans and Blacks, the majority of Planned Parenthood clients were Whites.) Theodore Roosevelt spoke in 1905 about birth control as “race suicide” for WASPs, when it took 5 educated WASP women to produce one child.

Irish Americans were upswelling in population in this country early in the 20th century. The non-Catholic forces tried to use federal law to push birth control, but Msgr. John A. Ryan defeated them.

But the Rockefellers got back at the Catholics, in the lead up to the 1966 Humanae Vitae encyclical, by buying them off. In the early 1960s the Rockefellers paid Fr. Theodore Hesburgh to stage secret conferences at Notre Dame to coalesce susceptible Catholic opinion leaders to lead Catholics away from faithful observance of the Church’s ancient teaching requiring openness to the transmission of human life in every act of the marital embrace. (David Rockefeller and Hesburgh tried to pressure Pope Paul to let them write the encyclical; he didn’t go for it, instead regarding American pressure as unacceptable; this resulted in an increase of the Ostpolitik movement of turning toward the Warsaw Block.) In the leadup to Humanae Vitae a “majority” Vatican commission tried to force the Church to open up the institution of marriage to contraception the way the Anglican’s had done so at the 1929 Lambeth conference; instead, with future Pope John-Paul II’s help, Pope Paul stood up for Church tradition, reflected in the fact that the same Greek word is used for procuring miscarriage and abortion as witchcraft, Pharmakeia.

After 5 failures of pagan priest Balaam to curse ancient Israel, forbidden by God’s voice acting through his own donkey (Numbers 22:21-38), Balaam told King Balak that the only way to subvert the Hebrews was to send their daughters to seduce the Israelites, to get them to worship pagan gods, to sacrifice their own children.

The modern equivalent of this “Heresy of Ba’al of Peor” was the acceptance of sexual subversion in the 1960s. After the Germans were subverted with the Swedish film “the Silence”, the pornographers broke the Hays Code in the 1960s, under MPAA’s Jack Valenti, with the 1964 film “The Pawnbroker” with Rod Steiger, in which an African-American prostitute-character “spontaneously” takes off her blouse on camera, making frontal nudity commercially acceptable, because it was about the Holocaust. Deep Throat followed 9 years later.

The demographic decline of Christians in Lebanon didn’t occur in a vacuum, it was because they stopped having children. The ongoing ethnic cleansing in the middle east is explicitly driven by demographics: both Palestinians and conservative-religious Jews have a birth-rate on the order of 6 children, the highest in the world.

Was doesn’t start with bullets, but with babies.

Stop whining. Either do your duty and have children, or go buy your stuff, which won’t be any comfort to you when you’re old and sick.

When Jesus said “turn the other cheek,” there were not yet any Moslems. Now it turns out to be bad advice. Unfortunately the people who run the Christian religions are advising people to not be fearful of Islam. I think fear is in order.

It'll only work if you're a member of an insular religious community.

Otherwise, for the most part we've gone galt.

We are living in a failed society.

I believe that Trump is a speed bump, that's it. He's buying us time. Then it's back to the program.

When he said that, we shouldn't take it literally and not in every situation.

I believe that the Christians living in the Middle Ages didn't take that literally because they were born in a brutal world.

Anti-islam activist and commentator Brightte Gabriel is a Maronite Christian and a refugee to the US from the Lebanese Civil War in the 1970s, which saw a large outflow of Christians. Gabriel's biography contains the story of her familiy's persecution by islamists.
