Elf on the Shelf was created 20 years ago, and since then, more than 31 million scout elves, elf pets, and elf mates have been sold, according to the Lumistella Company.
Needless to say, it’s become a Christmas tradition for many children and parents.

The elf is watching the kids for behavior for Santa. You have to move the elf every night. If you don’t move it, the children will rent their garments in grief, Christmas is ruined and the kids will need therapy.
I’d heard of the name but not anything about it, so I just did a quick search to read up.
Santa’s list has been around for generations, but I don’t recall anyone getting worked up about his all-seeing eye.
Seems to me like the surveillance state ruined the concept behind this elf, not that the elf was up to no good, trying to normalize the surveillance state.
In any case, it could always be worse.
At least it’s not a tranny elf from Satan’s Wokeshop, but the day’s young yet.

When we were kids, we didn’t have an elf on the shelf to keep us in line, but my mom had a belt on the shelf that was much more effective.
