Schizophrenia has nothing to do with smoking dope and everything to do with who you inherited your genes from.
Somebody in either Rob Reiner’s ancestral past, or his wife’s ancestral past had Schizophrenia.
It’s an inherited trait that runs in families... There is such a thing as having ‘temporary’ Psychotic symptoms and those can be caused by substances... Schizophrenia on the other hand is not ‘temporary’, it’s a lifelong condition that there is no ability to return from... And you can smoke pot, not smoke pot, do this and don’t do that and it won’t help at all.. Because you are screwed from the start which typically happens from your late teens until your early 30s.

The kid may have it but it's more likely he would have been diagnosed with it later in the future, rather than now.
