Since this thing whips around that pulsar in 7 hours or so, my guess is it is travelling so fast that the slushy atmosphere is not all travelling at the same velocity, so the planet appears elongated. It is probably also Tidal Locked with the Pulsar and right on the edge of its Event Horizon, being a kind of Proto-Black Hole. It’s on the very edge of spaghettification.............
