The last day for national letter delivery in Denmark is fast approaching as state-run postal service PostNord switches strategy to concentrate on parcel delivery following two decades of sharply decline in letter volumes.
The postal operator announced earlier this year that it will deliver its final letter on Dec. 31 after 400 years, saying physical mail is no longer economical because the country has mostly shifted to digital correspondence and that the massive growth in online shopping requires fast, reliable parcel service.

Then it becomes a parcel.
I’m still trying to figure out why we have Saturday delivery. What a waste of everyone’s time....and money.
Small boxes will soon become popular among those not into email and text messaging.
Yeah no one needs to actually sign documents, or send cards, or a personal check, or stuff like that.
We have Saturday delivery because we have distribution hubs around the country that are so inefficient and poor performimg, to where stuff piles up and sits there, they need 6 days to move the mail what it should have taken 4-5 days to travel.
I have a feeling that no matter how we cut back in govt it “rebalances” in some way to destroy any savings....I would be okay with no mail on saturday..we would have to cut some agreement with these companies that still collect bills via mail to have a bigger payment windows.
I do. I send and receive packages.
Doesnt matter. Saturday isn’t a business day, so even if it arrives to a company on a Saturday, it won’t be even possibly touched until Monday or later.
I guess, I am somewhat old fashioned, but I am still sending Christmas cards!
I get two or three pieces of mail each week that are important to some extent. Otherwise, it’s all junk that is placed in the recycle bin.

I read an article about that awhile back. The US Postal Service was considering dropping one day of mail delivery… Mondays.
Of course dropping Saturdays would make more sense. But, hey. It’s the federal government. So it’s not supposed to make sense.
No, not really.
Use docusign for legal documents and nobody under 65 uses checks anymore. Who even sends cards these days? Hallmark is on the verge of bankruptcy.
The USPS is today nothing more than a cushy government job for black women that fills my mailbox with little more than grocery store fliers.
I can't remember the last time I actually opened an envelope that was delivered to my mailbox.
Tuesday mail could also be cut: hardly anything first class comes on Tuesdays.
Packages, I use them for packages. They at least in my area are better than ups and fedex.
Packages. Packages come every day.
This article isn't about packages. It's about letter delivery.
Indeed, I still get packages through USPS but other non-governmental organizations do a better job at it.
What the heck are you talking about? I still use checks to pay all my bills. I don’t trust that fancy, new-fangled electronic payment stuff.
Oh, wait. I’m over 65. So, yeah. You might be right.
😀
