A Russian missile strike on port infrastructure in Odesa in southern Ukraine killed eight people and wounded 27, Ukraine’s emergency service said Saturday, as a a Kremlin envoy was set to travel to Florida for talks on a U.S.-proposed plan to end the nearly four-year war,
The discussions are part of the Trump administration's monthslong push for peace that also included meetings with Ukrainian and European officials in Berlin earlier this week. Ukraine's chief negotiator said late Friday that his delegation had completed separate meetings in the U.S. with American and European partners.
Meanwhile, European Union leaders agreed on Friday to provide a massive interest-free loan to Ukraine to meet its military and economic needs for the next two years.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said much will depend on the U.S. posture after discussions with the Russians.
Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Zelenskyy said that "the key question remains how the United States responds after consultations with the Russians. At this point, I honestly don’t know, but I will know later today."
Some of those wounded in Odesa were on a bus at the center of the strike late Friday, the emergency service said in a Telegram post. Trucks caught fire in the parking lot and cars were also damaged.
The port was struck with ballistic missiles, said Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region.
Moscow did not immediately acknowledge reports of the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that over the previous day, it had struck unspecified "transport and storage infrastructure used by the Ukrainian armed forces," along with energy facilities and those supplying Kyiv's war effort.

LOL!
Hopefully this is a PERMA-ZOT, finally, for this @hole Troll.
I believe it was (deleted post) 141.
That one, adorno, has no redeeming qualities at all. He is even disrespectful to the sites owners.
A permanent zot for that crumb bum.
“I agree with you on most issues, 99.99% of the time.
But, on the F-35 vs the European jets, I have to disagree.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><
Thank you, I agree 100% with your anti-communist and pro-American posts here. The FSB doesn’t like those posts, though, including a few people with a Neo-Soviet attitude here on FR. Luckily they are not many. There were about 15 two years ago, and now they are down to about 8. That’s terrific. The awakening has begun.
But when it comes to planes… I’m happy we can find a slight point of disagreement, which will help debate the subject further.
When it comes to planes, I’m a bit old-fashioned, I have to admit.
I love the good old Spitfire, a pure piece of art. And it looks good.
Certainly, it would be a tad difficult for a Spitfire to shoot down an F-35…
Seriously though, the problem with the F-35 is that the engineers have diminished its aerodynamics to make stealth work. Its stealth capability also relies on an endless list of electronic hocus-pocus (countermeasures against it are unfortunately already starting to work somewhat and are getting better and better). Soon, the “stealth effect” of the F-35 will be harnessed by our enemies. At that point, the only thing that matters is excellence in flight manoeuvrability, true and pure flight aerodynamics.
It is therefore my understanding that the Rafale or Gripen are better in the context of a European war.
Also, these two planes offer:
Speed of fielding
Ease of sustainment
Compatibility with existing weapons stocks
Flexible basing
Fast turnaround times (speed of fielding)
Stealth fighters like F-35s and F-22s need modern airbases, secure support facilities, and heavy logistics just to stay mission-capable. That’s a luxury Europe won’t have with Russia as a neighbor.
As a first-strike system, the F-35 is the best in the world.
But in a dirty European war launched by a close neighbor like Russia... simpler DEFENSIVE systems are needed.
However, IF the goal of Europe would be to strike Russia first... then of course, nothing can beat the F-35.
THAT one is so bad it should be permanent
Most of them should be permanent, especially the OPUS...
Libbylu was EPIC 🤣😂😉
"What number suspension is this for a-dumbo? Probably the 17th, matching the same number of Zelensky’s state of emergency extensions."
"Hopefully this is a PERMA-ZOT, finally, for this @hole Troll."
100% agree.
Gives new meaning to disrespect.
“Thus, Europe should continue to buy a lot of other stuff from America, but not the F-35.”
In a war you need more than one type.
It is unreasonable to believe you will only fight a defensive war.
Hopefully this one stays gone...
If Europe were ever to strike first, it would only be within a preemptive framework. A preemptive strike is a form of self-defense.
Europe would never invade Russia with ground troops to expand its territory. Unlike Russia, Europe is not an imperial, expansionist entity.
Striking Russian forces while they are massing along EU borders in preparation for an invasion would therefore be a logical and defensive move. Such an action would rely primarily on missiles and heavy artillery; aircraft would not be essential at that initial stage.
Jets would become necessary later, once active frontlines emerge and for precision strikes and special operations.
The immediate future is drones though.

Zelensky is a war criminal and big time grifter, and reputed to be a cocaine addict. He’s also send grandpas and 14 year olds to the front, and men without any training, communications, rations or commanders, to the front just to get killed.
"Hopefully this one stays gone...
Congratulations! You have been duped by cheap Russian troll propaganda.
DISINFO: Ukraine sends teenagers to the front

Also, do you consider Winston Churchill a war criminal as well?
After all, he defended his country against German mass bombings and got US support. Exactly like Zelensky.
If China attacked America and Trump responded would you also consider him a war criminal for responding accordingly against China?
You have a weird sense of what justice and freedom is all about.
Indeed it would!
