Nick Reiner was schizophrenic, and his new medication was making him “out of his head” in the weeks before he allegedly killed his dad, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, and his mom, Michele, according to a report.
The iconic director’s troubled middle child, 32, was being treated by a psychiatrist for his condition — but in the month before the murders, his behavior became “alarming” as doctors switched his medication, sources told TMZ.
About three to four weeks before Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood mansion, his prescription was altered, making him “erratic and dangerous,” the sources said.
Doctors were trying to adjust his medication to balance him out — but the adjustment reportedly was not working and, combined with his substance abuse, actually made things worse.
Once his medication was changed, “Nick was out of his head,” a source told TMZ.

Rob Reiner’s son Nick did not have a paying job. So who
provided the money to pay his dealer for the recreational drugs ? Who are the drug dealers involved with Nick and his family?
Conan O’Brian didn’t want anyone at his Christmas party to call 911. Were the Hollywood swells using illicit drugs? Will we ever know or does money buy protection from inquiries.
I don’t know if what you say is accurate… it might well be. But the God damn street drugs don’t do anything to help the situation, that is for damn sure.
I agree, I also don’t think the prescription meds help much either.
My parents found a doc that treated my family member with high dose shots of Vitamin B, mostly B6, I think.
They went from mostly catatonic to walking and talking in a couple of hours . Daily shots at first, then weekly, then monthly and then oral supplements.
50 years later, that family member has lived a normal life although they are scrupulous about their diet. No sugar and very high b vitamin supplements still.
Nobody in the medical field believes it of course. He’s just one of the lucky spontaneous recoveries.
If you were throwing a party where a majority of the guest were likely high on some type of illegal drug... Would you be calling the police?
So the push is on to get him off with an insanity plea?
One big problem he’ll have with that is that he tried to hide his involvement by going to the hotel and cleaning up in the shower. Truly insane people don’t realize they’ve done anything wrong, so don’t try to run and hide their guilt... This proves Nick did know and therefore he was provably not insane at the time of the crime.

Schizophrenia is a horrible, horrible disease. I've witnessed first hand what happens when an individual with schizophrenia stops taking their meds.
The drugs are hit and miss. And in the case of my friend, when he was on his meds, it was like talking to a zombie.
When off the drugs, he could talk you into investing in whatever business venture he was fantasizing....
They don’t have a choice if a coroner/ any Dr sees he is a danger to himself or others he should be involuntarily committed for 72 hours.
If he’s still wanting to harm after 72, he stays until he is no longer dangerous.
If he’s not dangerous they can’t make him stay but he can voluntarily commit and stay/leave when he wants.
They may have to take him down with Haldol, but family by law, should not have a say. He’s violent. Threatening. Dangerous. Their words.
We need these drugs to be cheaper!
The sad think is Hollywood will still back flooding the country with cheap labor and criminals because they’re usually safe from the monsters who kill us, our kids and take our jobs. I’ll bet this death of one of their own will shortly be excused or covered up - and their horrible belief that hurt the rest of us will come back.
He will never see the inside of a cell—only a hospital ward for many years until, as an elderly man he is released or kills himself. Total wigged out nut case.
Whole lot of docs putting folks on psychotropic drugs need to lose their doc licenses
