On Christmas Eve in 1985, British Airways did something almost unimaginable today. It took four Concordes off revenue service, filled them not with paying passengers, celebrities, or transatlantic executives, but with its own staff, and sent them into the winter sky in close formation. I had seen that in the past and thought it was a composite photo.
They had Concorde flights out of Rockford, IL, not too far from my location... But I didn’t want to take time off to view an airplane.
Gone but not forgotten.
Never got to fly in one, but was on the runway in Miami in 1991 I believe waiting to be cleared for takeoff and their was a Concorde ahead of us. The rumble when they went to full power for takeoff was wild. Shook the whole 737 we were in. Cool to see it take off. Maybe we will get a chance to fly in one again, if that company brings them back online for service.
This is Concorde lead, #2 close it up!!
Seriously, what an awesome gift for the employees.
Beautiful picture....thanks...
AWESOME
