Portimão hosted F1 races in 2020 and 2021, and hosts MotoGP races. Sir Lewis Hamilton is the defending champion. The race replaces Zandvoort on the F1 schedule in 2027.
As US media weans away from F1 because of Apple's restrictions on who may work from US media, the reliance of Australian and European media will be used for F1.
