I tried everything I could to stop my dad from drinking. He refused any/all help. I got physically sick from stress worrying about him. I only started feeling better when I realized that there was literally nothing I could do (if he did not want help).

He probably did worry about or fear his son. That fear and lack of control made Reiner try to control others as a way of compensating.

In contrast, drug use and homelessness offer freedom, easy friendships, and the excitement of illegality and street life.

Dealing with an addicted and mentally ill homeless child is never easy and involves years of recrimination, anger, resentment, and guilt. For the addict, there is also often a spiritual dimension that invites a turn toward deeply evil conduct -- which, for Rob Reiner and his wife, had tragic consequences.

You do not know whether, in fact, the boats were actually carrying illegal drugs.

You do not know whether, in fact, the passengers on those boats were compelled to ride in them because their families were held hostage and these people were, in fact, innocent.

If they are safely detained, the effects on the imaginary level of drugs arriving in the US will be exactly the same as when these people were unnecessarily murdered, when they could have been detained and brought to trial.

The left will try to memorialize the Reiners to match the memorial of Charlie Kirk.

I can just see them organize an event at the Hollywood Bowl or some such place where the celebrities will turn out to praise the life of Reiner and vow to keep fighting something.
