"Whoa. That dude said "tyre" instead of "tire".

"Maybe he was out of Scrabble vowels."

BeavisButtheadReal

"No, he also said "motorsport" instead of "car racing".

"English is hard for the British. That's why we speak American"

"Maybe he needs a boot in his trunk."

"Or a cute bonnet on his hood."

"At least those people were taken to hospital."

"They should have been taken inside for treatment."

"Whoever caused the accident might go to gaol."

"Why take them to France?"

"Just shut up and pass me those biscuits."

This is Australia, and they started this month the International Season for sprint cars (one word in Australian English, they also use “speedcar” instead of Midget). International Season is from the end of Turkey Night in Ventura (California) to the start of World of Outlaws in Barberville (Florida) after the Super Bowl. It’s when the sprint car stars from the States make appearances in Australia for fans and the Australian Clay-Per-View makes extra Australian Dollars from American viewers buying their streaming services to watch the visiting Americans in local races. (Note Flosports has the Kyle Larson High Limit series and DirtVision from World of Outlaws has the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, which traditionally ends the International Season on Australia Day.)

The Grand Annual Sprintcar has surpassed the Australian Sprintcar Championship because the national championship since the late 1970’s is a closed race, as international (US or NZ) drivers are prohibited. The Grand Annual is regarded as the “national open” race on par with, and in some years greater, than Iowa’s Knoxville Nationals.

The other two major big money races are NAPA Sprintcars in the City in Adelaide (November, in 2026 will be held during the same weekend as the USAC Midget Turkey Night, as the event is part of the Supercars Adelaide Grand Final) and High Limit International Perth.

The Australian Championship pais only 22,500 AUD. The Grand Annual pays 60,000 AUD. The High Limit International (uses American rules or format, that means race to the top five to get to the A Main, top four in the B Main get in the feature, a roulette wheel to determine Dash positions, and then the feature) pays 110,000 AUD. In Australia, they usually give drivers two heat races where finishing positions and passing points (fast drivers start in the back) determine which drivers make the feature, and everyone else to the lower races to determine who goes to the A.
