Elon Musk on "Somewhat Successful" DOGE: "If You Stop Money Going To Political Corruption, They Will Lash Out Big Time"
RealClear Politics ^ | 10 Dec, 2025 | Ian Schwartz

In an interview on "The Katie Miller Pod," Elon Musk said DOGE, the Department of Governmental Efficiency, was a "somewhat successful" venture, but he wouldn't do it again.

KATIE MILLER: You are in the Roosevelt Room, if you remember this, getting sworn in, and they hand you a computer and a phone. I want to go back to what happened next. I think the story of DOGE, from your perspective, has never been told. What was your first thought on how DOGE was going to proceed?

ELON MUSK: Well, I guess I couldn't believe I was there, for the most part. It's like, it all seemed extremely surreal at the time. You know, Doge was a made-up name that had been made up, I don't know, two or three months before.

And based on internet suggestions. And I was going to call it the Government Efficiency Commission. And then someone on the internet said, no, it should be the Department of Government Efficiency, DOG. I'm like, that sounds great. So we just kind of made up a department.

MILLER: Do you think you were successful?

MUSK: We're a little bit successful. We were somewhat successful. I mean, we stopped a lot of funding for -- that really just made no sense. That was just entirely wasteful. Where, like, for example, there was like, probably 100, maybe 200 billion dollars worth of zombie payments per year.

Which simply by enforcing that there be a payment code and an explanation for the payment, that the payment would not go out. So we've made that change to the main treasury computer and a bunch of other computers. It's like, it seems like insanely obvious.

Still no accounting of how much they actually saved us. May be a drop in the bucket. But 99% of the corruption still continues.

And if you don’t prosecute the corrupt, it’ll continue in spades.

Prayers for Elon Musk. Despite his wealth, his standing on the world stage is fragile, his personal safety is fragile. And if the Left comes to power, everything is at risk including X. So, prayers.

I would say there are trillions going to places that should not get a dime. The American and world economy are held up by a huge amount of corruption. If we could stop half of it, we could balance the budget. But our economy would suffer as well. Parts of the waste is holding up many large sections of the economy. NGOs are out of hand. They are a huge waste of money. Almost every national charity is part scam. And most of the Universities are part scam. Almost all libraries and schools are part scam. My library taxes at a rate where I could buy 200 books a year for with tax money. The US is the most corrupt country in the world. Because we can just print money.

We’re depending on the chronically corrupt to prosecute the chronically corrupt.

Both sides are chock full of corrupt career politicians. The only hope is that the public sees it, and begins to punish those scumbags. That is to say, there is little or no hope.

HHS related has the biggest budget and I suggest has the biggest WFA-Waste-Fraud-Abuse.

Too many of us only see the poor people motivated to take welfare rather than work an honest job. There is some WFA there.

But the bigger fraud is in the “SYSTEM”... the .. SWAMP. Start with Deloitte who is probably wasting more than a million poor people waste. The IES-Integrated Eligibility System runs in 25 states the sign up for Food Stamps/EBT, WIC, TANF, SEC8 and Medicaid. The EMPI-of IES, the Enterprise Master Person Index is so poorly designed and maintained that it is the single biggest reason there are so many dead on welfare...and so many DUPS where one person has 2 or 3 or more welfare IDs on which to collect.

Excessive government regulation is another example. Excessive Regulation of Prescription Medicine alone is a complex, confusing swamp that most in journalism cannot even understand, describe and report on.

DOGE under Musk was on the right track (you can tell by the daily screams and complaints from the Left which stopped immediately upon Musk’s departure) but fell short of the mark: ABOLISHING THE 80%+, $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the federal gov’t, THE GREATEST threat to our lives, liberties, and wellbeing, the abolishing of which will MAGA!!!

The ones who complained are the ones who are guilty. A bunch of damn grifters, stealing our tax dollars. Has anyone been arrested yet? If there has been arrests, I haven’t heard about them.

The only fix for government overspending is to cut their funds. Cut taxes 50% across the board and the government will be forced to prioritize.

Probably a good idea to keep Lil’ X out of the limelight.

That said, I miss his cuteness. Somethings are just fun to watch.

I like kids.
