Baruch Spinoza has a different take on Joseph of Arimathea. At the time of Yosef’s ben Yeshua crucifixion, it was the Roman custom to take criminals who had just been taken down from the cross to be placed in a sepulchre for three days before being taken out to a mass grave and dumped. Joseph of Arimathea was the Jewish official who was assigned this duty in Yeshua’s case.
