Well, that was likely with parity, at least. Still, a very real chance of bending a pin on installation. I came in at the early 80s, so it wasn't quite THAT expensive (unless you were buying for a boutique workstation like a Xerox 820). Was that core memory for $2,000?

When I bought my Commodore 64, I thought “No one needs this much memory!” LOL!
