I remember a time when 64K of RAM would cost $2,000.
Well, that was likely with parity, at least. Still, a very real chance of bending a pin on installation. I came in at the early 80s, so it wasn't quite THAT expensive (unless you were buying for a boutique workstation like a Xerox 820). Was that core memory for $2,000?

I seem to remember it cost me about $400 for 1mb around 1990. It was either for that or my huge 30mb Seagate RLL drive.
