People who defend pitbulls somehow seem a little anti-social. Kind of cut my nose off to spite my face type people. I have no sympathy for any “pity” owner killed by their own dog. A lot of sympathy for the other victims.
Or a black intercity gangbanger.
Cats don’t eat raccoons.
Sometimes, raccoons eat cats.
Possums and especially raccoons kill all poultry, wild and domestic, whenever they can get their grubby paws on them… and they will return every few days to get more.
Contrary to popular myth, possums do not go around looking for ticks to eat. They go around looking for eggs.
I am surprised some arsehole hasn’t crossed pit bulls with Jack Russell’s to make them even more psychotic.
Nearly every morning I pass (on the other side of the street) a man walking a large, black pit bull which he can barely control. When the dog sees me and my small dog, he starts barking and snarling and rears up trying to get free - the dog has on one of those huge “choke collars” - and is still able to struggle, hard.
I have no doubt that dog would kill my dog - and possible me as well - if it were to break free.
Most of my neighbors now carry some kind of repellent spray. I’m thinking of carrying my handgun now on neighborhood walks, that is the only thing that would stop that vicious beast.

I was recently scanning the adoption dog pics at the Gwinnett County animal shelter website and 90% are pitbulls.
You are both right.
My neighbor had 2 that would come almost halfway over my backyard fence and try to attack my labs and my family.
Anti-freeze hotdogs fixed that problem.
They sing the song of the ancestors.
I owned chickens and you are right. And they are sneaky about it also, so you don’t notice it as quickly.
Killed more than my share of animals killing my chickens growing up.
Carry the gun.
Because no one in their right mind wants them. They get mean and are turned in or dumped.
Yes, I’m a firm believer in freedom but truthfully pit bulls should be banned. They are not a good companion breed. There are hundreds of other breeds to choose from.
I never found pit bulls to be very guard oriented
Males are no question dog aggressive
Nazi dogs make much better guarding dogs for the home
Pastoral guard dogs seem to be the rage these days
Caucasians
Anatolian
Kangal
And so on
But I don’t think they do terribly well inside
I’m on my sixth Rott in my life and he’s elderly like me and none have needed training to be home protective
They just get it instinctively though training of course is a benefit
Pits are a three fold issue
The owners are at times an issue no question
The amount of pit type dogs everywhere
And the nature of the breed
One other factor is lately they’ve been bred larger
However the most dangerous dogs I’ve owned are Scott style American bull dogs
Pit bulls are a mere snack to them
Too much dog for families in my opinion
I gave my last to a former green beret in Alabama who’s single and loves him
He wouldn’t stop engaging my two Rotts
Breaking that up was a fight for me too
Had to knock the bulldog out with a shovel
The rotts being Teutonic bred would listen to me and break off but not the bulldog

They were stronger than I am then. I would not continue to love the pit bulls while they were mauling me to death.
Has to be a better way to address the fact of pit bulls existing here i n the country besides the way we do now. I am a dog lover and the breed causes unease to me.
