Radicalized is just the wrong word as his actions are actually pretty standard for Muslims. What I think she meant is he was not actively looking to kill until he started attending a mosque in the US. This is exactly why this idea of vetted or unvetted is a distraction, the question should be Muslim or not.
He couldn’t have been *radicalized* so recently if the seeds of weren’t planted years ago by islam.
Whatever happened to him here is simply the fruit of islam.
I know. But at what point - and why - did he decide that his trainers and compadres were the the real enemy?
He objects to the U.S. abandoning the effort that they used him in in Afghanistan - guilt and having done something all for nothing.
I think people are sick and tired of hearing from officials who may or may not be massaging facts to a narrative and we’ve heard this tune before. “Well, you see, it was really nothing done wrong by the CIA when they groomed him for color revolutions to undermine nations.” or “Well, you see, there is someone in the Deep State that has dirt on people and they wanted to point everyone’s attention away from the “always was a Jihadi” to someone suffering from SJS: Sudden Jihadi Syndrome and he was a lone wolf....
I thought Noem’s comment sounds stupid soon as I read it.
Most people don’t become radicalized in just a few years. This guy likely had some seeds of it planted over the early part of his life. He may have even played friend in order to learn some from the training and see what perks it brought, like getting to US etc.
Worth a read about his situation:
Perspective from another related Afghan who served along with him for 10 years fighting against the Taliban.
Recruited by Muslims?
Recruited by Muslims?
The only thing I want to know about this murderer is how much rope they’ll need to hang him.
Noem is useless.
One of Trump's biggest faults is his penchant for hiring pretty, camera-friendly women in positions that should be filled by stern, serious men.
Not really.
We had Yemeni steelworkers here since Victorian times without issue.
And Lebanese Muslims as well for decades and decades.
The problems began right after the Iranian revolution and when we started taking in Palestinians after they flipped on the King of Jordan.
Really. How about the shooter in Butler?
You can’t generalize like that. You don’t know diddly squat about the guy in DC and you’re in no position to do a psych analysis on him.
The guy is from Khost , a region that is ground zero for AQ in Afghanistan.
Ya, I’m sick of it as well. But that does not mean I’m in favor of throwing the baby out with the bath water. These people saying that every Moslem is radicalized are full of shit. They don’t even know any Muslims. I have know plenty of Muslims who are not at all radicalized and condemn this crap as strongly as we do. Turning to blind hatred is not the answer.
Yeah, probably. Noem is just a simpleminded Governor Trump appointed because she has that Fox News look.
Maybe she is talking about CIA radicalization, Soros, etc. on our own turf. Doubt he was a good guy before he got here but maybe Slotkin and Company got him riled up and paid him to kill an Orange Man Bad worker.
The guy came over from Afghanistan in 2021.
He has nothing to do with the groups you mentioned.
Their example is irrelevant for most of what we have to deal with today.
