We're watching another stunning and historic day in the silver market as the price has surged more than $3 and even broken through the $57 level following last night's COMEX closure and precious metals flash crash.
I’m wondering if he/his mod 🕺 friend didn’t like my post. 😁
I think most people here know that, but, thanks for your PSA.
How about quarters?
Where did you sell them? We have a bunch we’ve been holding on to.
Any idea where one should go to sell them?
A watched pot never boils.

Pawn shop !

I have never seen a commercial saying it is a great time to sell gold....
And if you’re lucky you get a pittance for what they’re worth, right?
I remember getting more than a dollar for each quarter.
I’ve got a shoebox filled with silver from 2003.
Some bars, coins, old coins.
Would you sell any of it?
There’s been a supply crunch at the LBMA and COMEX that has many of the refineries in a hustle to produce 1000oz bars of .999. The refineries can easily and quickly reform smaller .999 bars and rounds in to 1000oz with no refining necessary, so that is what they’re focusing on at the moment.
90% coinage and 92.5% sterling requires additional refining, and they’re backed up with the .999, so they’re not accepting it right now. This is a temporary phenomenon. The market for coinage and sterling will come back, just may take a while.
“Not too late to buy back. The premiums on Junk Silver is at all time lows, my LCS sells Junk at Spot. One shop I just visited in central Florida had Junk priced at $1 below spot! Owner told me the refiner was not taking Junk at this time.”
Because in a silver upward panic they are a hassle to refine into pure bars for comex delivery. So buy pure silver bars instead made by trusted makers. I have not looked but I bet that 1oz silver bars go for 12% above spot.
I just posted same. In the 50$ 1980 silver panic, silver bars sold for spot, while usa silver coinage sold at a 15% discount on its silver content.
At current gold n silver prices are you bullish? My main factor is the Russian war in Ukraine.
You can sell them at any local reputable coin dealer. Look for one that has been in business for a long time. They will give you a fair price.
“...I bet that 1oz silver bars go for 12% above spot.”
The coin/precious metals shop I purchase from typically had a $3.00 premium for the last several years. All of the 1 oz. rounds that they offer now are at $1.00 premium.
PS I have been doing business with this shop since the ‘80’s.
Can’t add any more to my stash at that price.
I don't recall that (I was a teenager). I do remember scarfing the few pieces of silverware that had been mangled in the dispose-all and selling them at the local JC Penney's jewelry counter for beer money.
