bout two years ago, an HIV outbreak was first identified in Penobscot County, Maine, home of Bangor. In recent weeks, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed another case, bringing the total of new HIV diagnoses in the cluster to 30.
Of note, 29 of those people were coinfected with hepatitis C virus; 29 reported injection drug use within a year of their HIV diagnoses; 27 have been unhoused within a year of diagnoses; 20 were linked to care within 30 days of diagnoses; and 16 of the 27 people currently living in Maine were virally suppressed at their last test.
The outbreak has been fueled by the Trump administration’s war against homelessness and drug use—local harm reduction programs were shuttered, and a homeless encampment has been cleared.

When I read the headline, I knew it was Trumps fault.
"About two years ago, an HIV outbreak was first identified in Penobscot County, Maine, home of Bangor."
Hmmm... who was the putative U.S. President 2 years ago? Who had been in office for almost 3 years?
These people are shamelessly ignorant.
No, they are not ignorant. They fully know the intent and audience of their 'reporting'. These 'reporters' have TDS and are unabashedly bias!
They’re blaming Trump... LOL
Trump didn’t make these people homeless... Trump didn’t make these people addicts.
Probably a faked report. Another “death by a thousand cuts” strategy by the devilish dem lie and propaganda machine.
Good thing for them that God is giving them time to repent and be saved from eternal destruction. One day, however, the time will run out on the earth.
Trump fights to reduce homelessness and drug use, the same two conditions these moonbats blame for causing AIDS. If he allowed homelessness and drug use to spread, would he be blamed for the increase in AIDS then?
EC
Ditto
They want goverment programs to give out free needles with the idea that clean needles prevent the spread of the diseases.
Why not recognize that the programs are enablers of the practice of IV drug use.
Welcome to a democrat run utopia.
These programs are no different than mitigating the risks of death from Russian Roulette by giving out free revolvers with a few more chambers on the cylinder.
The alphabet people, the theys, the thems, the fuzzy furry, bug chasers and Criminal Illegal Aliens doing things to each other got us aids, then super STDs, monkeypox, measles outbreaks, whooping cough outbreaks and even bedbug outbreaks as well as others have been and are traceable back to criminal illegal UN medically screened border crossers.
Even if the criminal aliens bring in a bug, the sodomites are the network for spreading it like a wild fire to the local citizens.
Maine is essentially libtard Canada. They aren’t known for common sense.
The new San Francisco - Green Acres version.
These people are shamelessly ignorant.
No, they are mentally defective or mentally deficient. Mentally deficient = IQ sub 50 or SFB (Sh-t for brains). Mentally defective = impaired by a disease (TDS) or injury (two by four slap to the side of the head) or brain washing/indoctrination (college/liberal upbringing).
Maybe getting rid of the Nigerians would help.
This is a relatively recent development. It hasn't been a permanently solid blue state until the last half-decade.
Not too long ago, it had a multi-term, conservative Republican governor (LePage) and would regularly elect Republicans to the governorship. It elects a Republican U.S. Senator (although rather liberal) and used to regularly have Republican majorities in the legislature. Not surprisingly, these have been whittled down with the advent of all mail-in balloting.
Maine has RCV for a reason...
