It is better not to ever have whooping cough. Most sane people would choose a vaccine over getting whooping cough and natural immunity, even if natural immunity is slightly stonger.

Technically, you need to get the vaccine every ten years and even so, you still have a 30% chance of getting it.
Meanwhile, according to pre-vaccine research, my natural immunity means that I have a 0.26% chance of catching pertussis a second time.
That's better than "slightly stronger," friend.
