The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating a large marijuana burglary at a cannabis greenhouse in Salinas that resulted in a pursuit into Gilroy.
Deputies became aware of the in-progress burglary at about 1:40 a.m. when a security guard reported it at a cannabis greenhouse on Potter Road.
Advertisement Three to four thieves reportedly took bags of marijuana from the facility and loaded them into two vehicles: a white Tesla and a silver or gray Honda.
Salinas police located the Tesla traveling north on Highway 101 at Laurel Drive.
A pursuit began after the Tesla allegedly failed to yield and continued on Highway 101 into Gilroy. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Gilroy police, Morgan Hill police, and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.
The Tesla entered a cul-de-sac, and three occupants fled on foot. One was captured and two were able to escape, according to a deputy spokesperson.
A yard-to-yard search was conducted, but the other two thieves were not located.
A large amount of marijuana was found in the Tesla. A deputy spokesperson said the Honda had crashed into a ditch in the area of Highway 101 and Gould Road.
A 17-year-old male was booked into Monterey County Juvenile Hall on multiple charges related to this burglary.

“Teen arrested after Tesla flees Salinas marijuana heist, chase ends in Gilroy”
Dumb $hit didn’t leave him time to stop at a garlic stand.
That is the FRONT TRUNK of a Tesla. Put to novel use. I must say!
Gilroy. The “Garlic Capital of the World.”
After Tesla Flees?
It must’ve been on autopilot. The kid was just a passenger.
30 years.
Never would have happened with a Toyota. They never flee.
Now the weed has been marinated.
A 17-year-old male had a plan no need to know how that works out.
