Dock Successful! Shenzhou 22 Docks to Space Station

After successfully entering orbit, the Shenzhou-22 spacecraft completed its status setup and successfully docked with the forward port of the Tianhe core module of the space station at 15:50 Beijing time on November 25, 2025. Following the docking, the Shenzhou-22 spacecraft will enter the combined docking section and will subsequently serve as the return spacecraft for the Shenzhou-21 astronaut crew.

Currently, the Shenzhou-21 astronaut crew is in good condition in orbit and is completing all planned tasks. The Shenzhou-20 spacecraft will continue to remain in orbit to conduct relevant experiments.

After the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft's return was delayed on November 5 due to a suspected impact from small space debris, the mission command quickly activated its contingency plan. The entire project team responded calmly and scientifically, with numerous participating research and testing units working together to overcome difficulties. Within 20 days, they steadily and efficiently completed risk analysis and assessment, scheme demonstration and decision-making, personnel and material mobilization, crew transfer and return, and emergency launch of the spacecraft, providing a successful example for the international aerospace field in efficiently responding to emergencies.

The success of this mission fully demonstrates the advantages of the new national system, profoundly interprets the concept of "life first, safety first" in China's manned spaceflight, comprehensively verifies the scientific reliability of the "one-for-one, rolling backup" strategy for China's space station mission, and practically tests the rapid response and emergency handling capabilities of the entire project. It also vividly embodies the manned spaceflight spirit of being able to endure hardship, fight, tackle key problems, and make contributions.

I am glad China’s plan for a contingency that was experienced because of the space debris that impacted Shenzou 20. has gone well. Safety and health to all Space Explorers, no matter what Country they’re from.

I think they brought up some of that black tape crap you can get “As Seen on TV” to seal up the crippled return vehicle they have docked there.

Otherwise, they are going to be there for a long, long time.

Reading Comprehension is your friend. There are NOW 2 capsules docked at Tianhe Space Module, the damaged Shenzou 20, and the just arrived Shenzou 22. The Shenzou 22 which launched yesterday, arrived early today. Shenzou 22 was unmanned so is able to return the Shenzou 21 crew home.

Yes, the astronauts will attempt to repair the damaged window on Shenzou 20, but I am guessing it will return to earth sans humans aboard so the Chinese Space Engineers on Earth can assess the damage, and the success or failure of the repair.

China keeps a Shenzou “spare” that can deploy in 8.5 days for scenarios like the one that happened with the space debris incident.

I know some people on this forum see the word China, and try to think of a snarky comment to post. I am happy they have the foresight to not have a crew stranded 9 months as our own US Space Program encountered recently.

China can equip their space equipment with neodymium magnets.

It has not occurred to rather many that only Russia can say the same right now. And for the next 10 or so years.

And how did my comment not reflect exactly what you wrote?

The supply ship brought up the stuff to repair the existing ship, which is clearly still there…and in need of repair.

Your comprehension could use some work as well.

When I see China, I read communist a holes. And fried dumplings.

I am not in awe of them, as you seem to be.
