A senior House Republican predicts that more "explosive early resignations are coming" after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga.) surprise announcement that she would leave Congress in January.
Several GOP House members privately told Punchbowl News that they were also considering retiring before their terms end, after Greene's Nov. 21 announcement.
It’s unknown which Republicans are currently pondering resignation, but a feeling that legislators' needs are being neglected by party leadership and an inability to pass legislation has led some to consider quitting, as they expect the GOP to lose its already slim majority in Congress.
The anonymous GOP lawmaker said that morale amongst the Republican caucus in the House has "never been lower" and called the present situation a "tinder box."
He also predicted that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) could lose his leadership position before the end of the term due to growing internal tensions in the ranks and said that many blame him and the White House personally.
“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen," the House Republican told Punchbowl News. "That is the sentiment of nearly all — appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file. The arrogance of this White House team is off putting to members who are run roughshod and threatened."
"They don’t even allow little wins like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies. Not even the high profile, the regular rank and file random members are more upset than ever. Members know they are going into the minority after the midterms," continued the legislator.
“More explosive early resignations are coming. It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel ...

She got too full of herself. Not good. Sometimes it’s better to move on than to take the team down.
Notice how Linda Graham and Cruz are able to correct themselves and stay relevant.
Trump has met with dictators and called them friends;he should be able to make deals with Republicans who disagree with him.
I am not stupid enough to follow blindly.
Politics is the art of the possible, not just what you want.
The truth is she is about #10k of a list of 9999.
Only Crazy Liz is below her.
Why? Did she sleep with them too?
Good old doomposter121263.

She lasted a year more than the auto pen.
Good for her

“ But why would people who just got elected one year ago want to give the House to Dems?”
There needs to be a sub-Forum here for people who still believe in the GOP. Sad.
I called D+40 in 2018 and after months of being called vile names I was exactly right.
2026 may actually be bigger.
Well, that’s a laugh out loud, because she doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting past the primary.
#1 & #2 must be real winners, if she’s hot on their tails.
The GOP is too wimply.
The Rats are bold, but that is a bad thing when you are an evil satanist.
“I called D+40 in 2018 and after months of being called vile names I was exactly right.
2026 may actually be bigger.”
In 2018 there were 80 districts rated in the tossup range (D+5 to R+5) the GOP lost 61 of those 80 — of course some were already held by Democrats — and only 27 of those 80 were D+ districts. The playing field, in that sense, was actually tilted to the right.
It didn’t help.
In 2026 there are 91 districts in that range, split almost evenly between ones which favor Republicans and ones which favor Rats. No tilt this time.
IOW there are more seats *potentially* in play. If the subject of this article becomes a fact rather than unatrributed speculation, that wouldn’t help matters any.
But idiots (not referring to you) have been crowing since 2018 that the MAIN or ONLY reason why there was a House bloodbath that year was because of all the Republican retirements and “it can’t possibly happen again”.
That is bullshit. Of “all the Republican retirements”, only 10 were replaced by Democrats. They lost 40 seats. And it can happen again, because they got the reason for 2018 wrong.
All the Republican supporters have right now, after seeing the 2025 bloodbath, is: “things change” and “12 months is an eternity in politics”. Neither of those exactly qualifies as a policy statement.
Oh, I forgot (regarding November, 2025):
“These losses were expected”, and the real biggie: “They were confined to blue states only and therefore are meaningless as far as what will happen in 2026”.
Sometimes willful blindness is preferable to looking at that which is distasteful.
“Trump has met with dictators and called them friends...”
That is called flattery, the dictators know it is flattery, but it means that Trump is at least willing to keep lines of communication open. What good would it help if Trump says what he really thinks? Trump did not get where he is by doing that with people that actually count. That does not inlcude the fat slob who moved to Ireland.
You mean you haven’t learned you can never take things at face value at that level of politics.
TY for the heads up ;^)

Historically the odds are heavily stacked against the party in power in the next congressional election.
That is the baseline.
The reasons are straightforward. The party in power gets blamed for anything and everything that is a problem—whether fairly or unfairly. The party that is in power has trouble getting turnout for these elections while the party that is out of power has a much easier job getting their base to turn out.
Having good policies that are reasonably successful is still not good enough to win the midterms.
MTG really hated Israel and Jews. I remember when CA was having a lot of wildfires some years ago, she said Jews were starting them with lasers.
And, of course, said many more recent things regarding the Hamas/gaza war was Israel’s fault, etc.
I’m NOT sorry to see her go.
and... how did she become a millionaire in a few years, hmm?
Good going, guys!
This one has the TDS bad. Posts just like a Democrat. Good riddance!
MAGA isn’t over. Since President Trump got back in office, rogue judges have hamstrung him as badly as the impeachment efforts in his first term.
But this will not last forever.
The problem in the world is not Israel, the problem is ISLAM and the globalists who are using it is a chaos inducer to usher in a world government. The Ukraine war supportersin Congress are very guilty and many received kickbacks from the vast sums of US $$ sent there.
The European leaders are Euroglobohompedomuzzieloverwarpigs.
