SWAIN COUNTY, N.C. -- A driver in rural North Carolina was left in shock when a bald eagle dropped a cat onto her car's windshield, leaving a massive hole.
The woman was not injured but understandably shaken by the incident.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the event occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, on US-74 in Swain County.
"You may not believe me, but I just had a bald eagle drop a cat through my windshield. It absolutely shattered my windshield," the woman told a 911 operator.
"I do believe you, honestly," the operator responded.
"I had a witness who was like, 'That is the craziest thing I've ever seen," the caller said.
The cat, unfortunately, did not survive the fall.

Well, that’s one way to get rid of a cat.
You don’t have to train the the damned birds. The hawks took my 18 year old cat right off the spot she was sunning out side the house.I have no use for the idiots who worship the so-called “noble” birds. Eagle are just flying predators that swoop down on the unsuspecting.Maybe that is why government leaders have so often chosen eagles as nationsl symbols.
I am fairly certain the damned birds took a couple other older cats as well.
Never had my barn or house cats taken by birds in the old days when farmers took care of hawks trying to take the chickens.
Stupid people wanting hawks, eagles, bears lions alligators, coyotes, wolves, and other predators of pets, livestock, and humans be protected are insane.
And there needs to be more deer harvested. I say this because of several totaled cars amongst 15 or 16 too-close encounters of the deer kind plus as many near misses. Most while I was driving 40mph or less.
