Blacks and whites both picked cotton.
When ‘Cotton-pickin’ Time’ comes in October, you have a very short time to gather it all in and get it out of the rains before they start.
When I was a kid in Mississippi, before cotton picking machines were widely in use, county schools would let out for a week for ‘Cotton Picking’...........
