I worked for a very well known hospital for 20+ years. A good percentage of the physicians,surgeons and researchers there were Indian. Very intelligent indeed. Having spent a little time in India I could accept that there are a billion people there with IQs in the vicinity of 80-85. But I know for a fact that there are very intelligent ones as well.

I have to agree with you. I came on student visa in 1960 to work on masters degree in mechanical engineering. This is a difficult curriculum with highest percentage of dropouts. after receiving degree, I was allowed to work in my field of study for 18 months with student visa. After 18 months working at a large manufacturing outfit, I was ready to head home. But the company wanted me to keep working and sponsored me for permanent visa. When I was promoted to managerial positions in engineering department, I had opportunity to hire many workers. I hired 1 Indian, 2 Lithuanians, 1 Chinese and a dozen+ Americans. The worst applicants were American blacks who could not recite simple definition of sine or cosine. Very sad and disappointing because out outfit was located on south side of Chicago, a predominantly black area.
Most Indian applicants with degrees could not recite formula for horsepower. So I hired mostly American kids with a couple of years in college and trained them. They were fast learners.
