There is no “pie” in the Italian culinary tradition, and there is no Italian word for “pie.” The Italians have torts (in Italian, torta), but apart from torts, nothing pie-like.
“Pies” in Europe in general are savory meat dishes, like English shepherd’s pies, Cornish pasties, and Russian pirozhki. Nothing remotely like like a pizza. ‘Pie” was an affectation Americans attached to pizzas made by Italian immigrants before the Italians knew English well enough to defend themselves.
Now it’s mostly used by people putting on airs.
