They’re gobbling down these slices.
Pino’s Pizza of Deer Park has something savory to be thankful for this Turkey Day — their viral Thanksgiving pizza pie, which is served with sliced roasted turkey breast, gravy, sausage and apple cornbread stuffing and topped off with cranberry sauce.
Customers trot from far and wide to get their hands on the $34.99 pie — and this month alone, they’ve already sold 300 and counting.
“People from Toms River, New Jersey came in to buy it,” owner Joseph Barbieri, aka Pino, told The Post.
“The biggest request I get is, ‘Can you ship it?’ But I haven’t figured out that one yet.”
The TDay pizza craze began last November, when Barbieri posted a video of him crafting the unconventional pie — spreading gravy on mozzarella-topped dough, then sprinkling the sausage and turkey and completing the creation by drizzling cranberry sauce over it.
In just two days, the clip had 5 million views on Instagram and over 3 million on TikTok.
“It just went insane. We probably sold over 500 pies,” he said.
A native of Calabria, Italy, Barbieri first came up with the idea when he thought outside the [pizza] box after making too many turkeys at one of the three locations of his Italian market, Salpino.
“Prior to Thanksgiving, I got a phone call from my son, and he said, ‘Dad, I think we screwed up, we oversold six meals and we don’t have the turkeys.’ So I made a couple of phone calls and was able to get 10 turkeys from our meat suppliers,” he recalled.

It’s an open-faced turkey pot pie, and likely tastes very good.
“...Sweet and savory don’t go together on pizza..”
As President Reagan would say, “never say never”.
My wife made a pizza and instead of using pesto, she used with Stonewall Kitchen’s roasted garlic and onion jam. I thought it was awesome, and asked her to make this “dessert pizza” again.
The cranberry sauce is a super-food and anti-bacterial, right up there with pineapple. Best recent pizza at home was ham, pineapple, cheese (Freshette) to which I added cut up BBQ chicken chunks in whatever degree of hot you want sauce.
now THAT’S a pizza!
I wish there was a decent mom and pops pizza place close to me. Here it’s all just the corporate chains.
Considering the shepherd’s pie I make using Thanksgiving leftovers, I’m for it! Just needs potatoes.
A real Italian pizza? /s
There is no “pie” in the Italian culinary tradition, and there is no Italian word for “pie.” The Italians have torts (in Italian, torta), but apart from torts, nothing pie-like.
“Pies” in Europe in general are savory meat dishes, like English shepherd’s pies, Cornish pasties, and Russian pirozhki. Nothing remotely like like a pizza. ‘Pie” was an affectation Americans attached to pizzas made by Italian immigrants before the Italians knew English well enough to defend themselves.
Now it’s mostly used by people putting on airs.
No, gross.
(I love pizza and Thanksgiving dinner, but not together.)
Ham and pineapple = Hawaiian pizza
To be really Hawaiian it should be Spam and pineapple.
Delicious!
I have nothing against Spam, properly prepared, throwback to when I was a boy:on white bread with American cheese. But you gotta fry the hell out of the Spam to make it edible
