Megyn Kelly faced backlash during the cold open of Saturday Night Live, as she appeared to defend late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's behavior by implying that he preferred the “barely legal type” and was not a pedophile.
After the Trump impersonator addressed another inquiry concerning his association with Epstein, he justified his stance and referenced Kelly's comments: “I thought Megyn Kelly made a terrific point this week, she said Epstein's not a pedophile.”
“Terrific thing to just say out of nowhere. Great Job Megyn, we love Megyn, they should put her back on TV. Legalize Megyn!”
The audience present in the studio burst into laughter at the sarcastic comments, which concluded shortly after a few additional jokes were delivered.
The reference to the conservative commentator follows her experiencing significant criticism for the statements made on the namesake podcast on November 12.
Kelly stated that she was uncertain regarding the veracity of the claims about the deceased sex offender, but remarked, “we have not yet witnessed anyone step forward and declare, 'I was under 10, I was under 14, when I first came within his preview'.”
Epstein's alleged victims were reportedly as young as 14 years old, based on the indictment that was presented when he faced charges for sex trafficking minors in July 2019.

It depends on what the meaning of “’s” is—can it be a contraction for “was” or only for “is”? If the latter, then it is true because Epstein is dead.
Anyone wonder why SNL is on its last legs? Talk about stretching to create a bit. The dopes in the audience have a vague sense that Megyn Kelly is “pro-Trump” or “conservative” and so they laugh because they have a vague sense that SNL is making fun of her. I say vague sense because there is nothing organically funny about SNL skits anymore. The laughs come when the “Laugh” sign lights up.
On her show last week, Kelly tried to make the cringe inducing suggestion that “barely legal” 15 year olds do not equate with young children as young as say 8 or under 10, and so the term “pedophile” should only apply to a person with a preference to the latter.Megyn was making a practical distinction between pedophilia and ephebophilia.
The victims were trafficked, threatened, and groomed.
My understanding is that Epstein was paying girls who were around 16/17 to masturbate him. Now, b/c of these insane loons on Twitter, most Americans think that he was kidnapping 5 y/olds and holding them captive on his island. Yes, there is a significant difference between paying teenage prostitutes and holding elementary school children as sex slaves. Megyn Kelly’s point is correct.
If I did not already hate SNL, this excerpt would convince me to hate them.
The age of consent varies from state to state, from 16 to 18. What happens if a 17 year old girl in one state passes herself off as a 20 something and has sex with an older man? Pedophilia? Perhaps.
What happens when a man has sex with an 8 year old? That is definitely and unmistakenly pedophilia. My point is that the cases are very different but still fall under the umbrella of pedophilia.
The word is vague. Cases of pedophilia can vary so much that we shouldn’t just react to the work. We should want to know more before reacting.
Maybe Megyn was thinking along those lines as well.
The victims were trafficked, threatened, and groomed.Nothing Megyn Kelly said denies that.
Correction:
“shouldn’t just react to the work.”
should have been
shouldn’t just react to the word.
SNL used to have Dana carvey acting as frank sinatra acting as John McLaughlin doing the McLaughlin Group.
They had Phil Hartmann as Clinton campaigning at Mcdonalds
John Baluchi as a killer bee during a time when we were concerned that killer bees were coming up via Central America
The were the not ready for prime time players. No one else was doing this stuff
They probably said many times, no that’s too much and either did it or didn’t do it
But no one this week said, ‘sex with trafficked kids is not funny’
They have guys in front of the audience telling tge audience when to laugh. Demanding that the fake laugh.
SNL doesn’t even know what’s funny they’ve lost track
But sex with young trafficked individuals is not comedy
What is going to hurt SNL is when the bluff gets called, the indisputable facts come out and it’s their people and definitely not Trump
The royals are ahead of this. They’ve got Andrew as close to locked up as he can be. They won’t be taken by surprise. SNL should take the hint but they’re completely gone.
“Megyn was making a practical distinction between pedophilia and ephebophilia.”
Megyn is right, but the distinction is lost on the unwashed masses.
It’s like the situation in the Catholic Church with the average person on the street talking about a “pedophile priest” problem. No, it’s actually “homosexual priest” problem... with >90% of victims/accusers being post-pubescent. A guy hitting on a 17-year-old boy isn’t a pedophile, he’s a homosexual doing his thing.
This isn’t about anything Megyn Kelly said on her show. It’s about Megyn Kelly being on the political side of Trump
And more it is about how SNL and their audience finds sex trafficking a subject of humor
SNL should have ended a long, long time ago. Like most of the current ‘entertainment’ industry, SNL is very dated and lacks creativity. Not to mention that the skits are generally very lame.
Anyone who thinks for a second that Megyn Kelly, a mother, was dismissing the depraved actions of Epstein is either clueless or someone who would twist anything to hurt those they hate.
Maybe you should look up definition of pedophile to start with. People incorrectly use that term a
Glad I stopped watching after Belushi died.
“ Anyone who thinks for a second that Megyn Kelly, a mother, was dismissing the depraved actions of Epstein is either clueless or someone who would twist anything to hurt those they hate.”
Of course
They’re making fun of anything they can use on her, a Trump supporter
They’re using sex trafficking as comedy
They’re done
They’ll linger but
Then when the facts come out and Trump is not part of it but all their favorites are part of it - forget it. I don’t know what survives
Tge Royals got ahead of it last week. Andrew is out
Human trafficking is not comedy
That said, I’ll bet SNL regrets not paying attention to Trump’s statements:
From truth:
“ As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files…”
It's impossible to make that distinction without coming across as a pedo.
“ As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files…”
They are already saying that he just said it because they got rid of all the information implicating Trump.
If there was no Trump there would be no SNL
