Traction Control became big in the late 1980's and early 1990's on luxury cars, but, it was used by Buick years ahead of time. GM introduced Airbags and also ABS Braking way back int the 1970's, but these safety options didn't gain popularity until the 1990's. Paul Burke was the Star of the 1960's TV shows, "Naked City" and "12 O'clock High" by Quinn Martin.

You could do some serious “night moves” in that.
That’s a sub-compact compared to my mother’s 65 Oldsmobile Delta 88. That thing had a 455 V-8, a swimming pool in the trunk, sundeck on the hood, and a spare bedroom in the back seat. I did a Dukes of Hazzard flight over a bridge at 103 mph. It was like landing on a spring mattress—took 2 days to stop bobbing up and down.
I saw a beautiful Skylark or Wildcat today. I couldn’t grab my camera/phone in time for a picture.
My buddy had a 63 riviera. Beautiful car.l Only two problems were it drank gas and the trans was a clunky dynaflow. Still I love to have it now.
I was in Costco yesterday and they had a bunch of toy cars for sale. Almost all of them were 1970 models and all sorts of colors.
Not a grey or white look-alike 2025 sedan among them.
There's a long history of hard tops without B pillars also being called hardtop convertibles by GM.
The 1972 Buick pictured in post #4 was referred to as a hard top convertible by GM. My parents had a similar Chevy at that time.
In the early 80s, my wife and I had a 1973 Buick Centurion convertible. That car was a boat!
A couple years before,I graduated from KSU and bought myself a brand new 1977 Buick LeSabre, the first year of their downsizing.
I liked that car so much that over the years I bought three more, always a low mile 77 or 78.
AI:
The term "hardtop" was adopted later in the post-war period (around 1949 by General Motors) to describe cars without a B-pillar, essentially a fixed-roof car that looked like a convertible.
Today, the term "hardtop convertible" almost exclusively refers to vehicles with a rigid roof that can automatically retract or be removed for open-air driving, combining the security and insulation of a fixed-roof car with the versatility of a convertible.
I believe those were called "retractable hardtops".
I’ve got a 1997 Buick LeSabre. Not in mint condition, but it runs fine. Actually, my son’s girl friend (she was born probably in 1994) said “How do you keep something this old looking so good!?”
My grandma had a Buick like that. Crazy how long those things were... like a foot longer than even the full-size SUVs of today. How the hell did old ladies manage those things in tight parking lots? I seem to remember that there were more fender-benders in those days.
That’s why I said so in my comment.
It was the first part of your comment that was confusing.
Sorry. The last sentence of your post #28 puts it a lot more clearly than I did.
I HAVE A 1979 BUICK ESTATE WAGON -—403 OLDS ENGINE
HAS OVER 225,000 miles.
WILL NOT SELL OR TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE.....

If the Linc was a ‘68 or later it would be a 460.
If you see an ad, let me know. 🙂
It is so sad how GM has gone down the crapper. They were the best.
It was after 68. A 460 sounds right. Thanks!
